Harveys Furntiure - Product Insurance

Hi, hoping that someone can help me. I bought furniture a number of years ago from Harveys and paid for extra protection insurance. I have just noticed an area on my furniture which is damaged and would be covered under the insurance however, now that Harveys is in administration, how does this work? Can I still claim the insurance? If not, can I get a refund for the extra that I paid for it?

    Who provides the insurance?
  • If Harveys themselves provided the cover then you will have to contact the administrators and see what they say.
It might well be with an independent company or be insurance backed but without reading the policy documents, it's impossible to know.

How much was did you pay for the extra cover? and how did you pay for it?

Dig out the paperwork and see who the insurance is with.
I dont see Harveys being able to help, all they did as sell the insurance.

If it is "insurance" then there must be an insurer... Harveys were never an insurance company.

Many retailers  and manufacturers sell various warranties and service plans that casually get referred to as insurance however legally are not and can be provided by the companies themselves or third parties.

You ultimately need to double check what you have actually bought and who it says to contact in the event of an issue. Many, I believe, were Guardsman products that are still being honoured irrespective of if they were insurance or not (Guardsman themselves arent an insurer either)
  • Can anyone help?!
I purchased  2 x 2 seater sofa’s from Harvey’s. I noticed an issue with the lacquer/pigment in areas on one of the sofas.
I took out the additional warranty/insurance through Gaurdsman who came to look. Initially, they said they would attempt to colour match and repair however, they were unable to get a colour match and I heard nothing back for several weeks.
on contacting them again, they said there had been an admin error and I was forgotten about!
They sent someone else over who, on visually inspecting the sofa, reported there to be a structural issue with the leather and pigment. I was advised that the warranty does not cover this and have shut the door stating they are unable to do anything.
I don’t feel this has been managed well - I’m unsure how a structural issue can be determined with a visual inspection.
please could someone advise me how to progress this as I am stuck in regards to how to push this and am left with an expensive, relatively new sofa that is clearly damaged!!
    Thanks,
    Alan
