I must agree that it seems cruel to require a phrase when answering the phone and being told you have lost a fortune if you get it wrong. However, that is the game as it is played and that is what the entrant has agreed to when entering the competition. If you're not serious about it and forget that it is 4pm and you are possibly going to have to be a bit compos mentis around that time if the phone rings, then don't enter the competition! It is entirely up to the promoter who is giving away the cash as to the rules you must abide by (as long as it is legal...)
That also applies to the Scotland and Northumberland competition where only those residents can enter, regardless of the fact that they can also enter the UK wide one, but not vice versa. There are many competitions where resident restrictions apply by country or county or postcode. Just ignore and go on to the next competition.6 -
Apologies, I should be more careful with my wording. Monday’s chap, the lorry driver who missed out on the £25,000 by saying hello and not make me a winner. The main show radio presenters play the recording of the call. I have listened to Monday’s call again and the recording presenter informed the lorry driver she was ringing from make me a winner after he said his hello and informed him he had not won the that days prize because he did not say phrase. I added the £25,000, the recording presenter did not give the lorry driver the amount he had not won. It was only when the call recording had finished the main radio presenter mentioned the £25,000 and then gave Tuesdays amount. In future, I will put the amount if not actually mentioned in the call recording in brackets.7

Thursday’s amount-£40,000.00pWhere there has not been a winner, there will be a rollover. We reserve the right to announce a new Prize and Winning Phrase for the next Entry Period and Draw.
Irrespective of whether there has been a winner or not, all entries from the completed Draw, and any previous Draws, will automatically be eligible for the next Draw. Entrants do not need to enter again in order to be eligible but are able to do so if they would like to increase their chances. We reserve the right to vary the Prize for the next Draw.
So entries are always rolled over, whether someone wins that day or not.
