It's such a PITA to do now. I think they've gotten really greedy. They've made it a silly number of entries because that encourages people to pay, to save the time. I'm wondering if they will keep adding more and more entries next year. And to those who want to tell me, "You don't have to enter," it's my choice to enter and also my choice to moan about it, if I want to.

I agree that they might raise the amount of 'free' entries to persuade people to pay, BUT, you have to remember that if there is no money coming in, then there will be no money going out.
They have to make a profit, or there is no reason to run the competition, they are not a charity.
It's the same with the weekly magazine comps, we all notice the prize amounts are reducing, but if people don't buy the magazines then there is less prize money to offer.
We're all welcome to our opinion, but at the end of the day, if people don't support the prize givers, there will be reduced prizes to give.
    Good luck, whatever your opinion.
I wish you ALL a VERY merry Christmas & shed loads of luck for the new year.
You are right. I do realise that it's about making money. But I guess, for me, there has to be a cut off point where it is just not worth entering. Obviously, the chances of winning are tiny. If anyone enters just once, the odds of winning will be hugely reduced. So it makes sense to enter the max entries, or not bother at all. I wonder what most people's cut off point will be. Ultimately, if they want to discourage free entries, maybe they should just make it a pay to enter competition - end of.

@Blulu if they made it pay only it becomes a very different competition and the laws regarding it change as well. If they gave me 500 free entries I would use them all to have a free chance of winning half a million quid.

while doing a load of entries this morning I was doing a sudoku on my iPad when it said press one I did on my iPad and got the sudoku wrong
I do it just for fun and whatever I win is a bonus

I tend to do my entries at the same time as going through the comps forum on my phone, so entering other comps at the same time.

LOL, you got more stamina than me, Dave. I do 'em watching TV, using a countdown timer on laptop, so I don't have to listen to it. Takes over an hour now. Not sure if I will do next year. Especially if they add more entries. Shame bout the sudoku 😁 Worst for me is when I sometimes switch end call instead of clicking 1 XXX

I don't think it is about trying to get people to give up using free entries but more about persuading the majority who pay what a bargain £30 is for 150 entries when compared to say £20 for 50 entries down to £2.50 for just 1 - the number of free entries has to match the 150 they offer via the pay route
