  • Has anyone else had the calls being a lot shorter - they have cut the calls being 45p or whatever it was out. I normally press a number twice to go through to the reading out my number, but only needed to do it once today.

I have also worked out a short cut on an iPhone is to have two calls going at one time. So ring, go through to reading out the number bit, then ring again and it places first call on hold. When you go to reading number bit again - “swap” back to the first call which should be close to “press 1 to confirm” and then repeat. Has really cut down the time spent on making calls 👍

I believe people have known about the ‘two calls at the same time’ trick for sometime. However i remember lots of people stopped doing it as i believe they read something in the t&cs which could mean you’re disqualified for doing the two calls at the same time trick.
  • @megs151 ah ok - that is interesting as I have read the terms and conditions and did not see anything along those lines. I thought it was only about using multiple different sims to call 🤔

There is another hack I have seen.

If you’re an iPhone user and copy the number format below (with commas) into a new contact then the key press will happen automatically at the prompt. The commas make a 2 second pause. That’s 12 commas before the 1 to confirm the number.

The Scottish lady's preamble was definitely shorter yesterday / today than it had previously been. Before, she used to talk quite slowly and I always had to wait a second after "...competition line" before pressing a digit to skip a section. Now, her speech is sped up and I could press the skip digit immediately.

In answer to above, I try to reduce the call length because I haven't got much free time and it's harder to find the time to sit on the phone for 42 x 40-odd seconds than it is for 42 x 20-something seconds!

You are trying to win a life changing amount of money and trying to reduce each call by a few seconds, why!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Precisely because it is a life changing amount and you want to make sure you maximise the opportunity by ensuring you have the maximum amount of entries, especially if you’re entering at the last minute and added to that, you hit the number busy time.
I personally use the comma hack most of the time as I’m entering when walking my dogs, so I don’t need to concentrate on the calls and they do the business themselves.  I do sometimes do the two at once method though, for example if it was raining when I went out,  because it gets through them in half the time.

It used to be in the MMAW terms but this is in the Bauer Ts&cs. A bit of a grey area but is it worth the risk if you did win?

I agree it's a grey area because a mobile phone could be seen as an "electronic means that permits any person to enter any Competition repeatedly" even if you just make single calls one after the other.
