My SD card in my mobile phone is coming up " Unsupported " I have taken it to a phone shop and they have checked it on their laptop using a card reader as well as another phone etc and said it is not reading to save to Hdrive . He said if i format it i may be able to retrieve some of the contents ( 1500 songs and photos which are NOT backed up to google
) I have no idea how to go about this and if there is a chance of it working to save anything. Any ideas in " simple" language would be appreciated, Thanks.

think very carefully before formatting the card as generally that will erase any data stored on it.suethedriver said:My SD card in my mobile phone is coming up " Unsupported " I have taken it to a phone shop and they have checked it on their laptop using a card reader as well as another phone etc and said it is not reading to save to Hdrive . But you'll need a card reader first. If your phone won't recognise the card then I have my doubts that connecting your phone to your PC (with the SD card in the phone, so sort-of acting as a reader) will yield any positive result - even with the Recuva application.tonygold said:

The more you use it in the phone the less chance of recovery .buying a card reader ( they are sub £20 )may enable you to recover some stuff .Download Reccuva and install on PC and try .

You need a piece of PC software called RECUVA. You probably DO need to Quick Format the card to use it - the Recuva instructions will guide you over that. You DO need an SD card reader that will connect to your PC - through USB. The one you cite looks like the right thing - but at that price, from China, who knows ? - maybe better to pay more for a branded one. maybe like this : https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07GZYGVT8I successfully recovered 13,000 photos from a friend's micro-SD card with this technique. The recover job will run for HOURS if it's a big card. PS - do turn on Google backup for you photos, as EVERY storage card will finally fail.

Do not format it.
Do you have a PC? or Laptop? If not, find someone who does. If a laptop it is likely to have a SD slot but your card will be too small you need the little plastic adapter to make it bigger. If a PC, then you will most likely not have a slot and will have to buy a usb card reader.
Once the card is in your laptop or PC it should show up as a drive letter eg D, E: or whatever.
Rt-click on that drive letter, choose 'tools' and then 'check disk for errors'.
Hopefully the files will come back. If not, then as above download and use recuva.0 -
Thankyou everyone for your help i will get a reader then follow advice above0
