REVOLUT ACCOUNT FROZEN!

Options
I have had my Revolut account frozen, with over €10,000 in it.  This seems to be a common problem, with a page referring to its controversy on Wikipedia.  But does anyone know how to resolve this?  I need my money, I want my money.  I understand that they have to do their checks, but no phone number?  No online chat?  No email address to send your incredibly personal documents?  No confirmation on how long it may take?  Is there a legal route I can take to start getting my money back?

I feel for you. Revolut is an awful outfit, with terrible / non-existent customer service. I would suggest you raise a complaint with them. Good luck!

I would also suggest that, as soon as you have access to your account again, you move your money elsewhere as Revolut don't at present offer any FSCS protection. Although they have now applied for a UK banking licence. Choose your next bank wisely, don't repeat the error to pick one which has thousands of complaints all over the internet.

These threads are common for every bank. If they suspect fraud they're required by law to freeze your account and not discuss anything with you until their investigation is complete. Likewise they're required to verify source of funds as an anti-money-laundering measure, I've experienced this myself with Revolut - all it took was a bank statement and a few days for them to check/review, but that was a straightforward transfer from another bank account.
As Thrugelmir suggests, trading in crypto is likely to result in a frozen account (whoever you bank with) due to its widespread use for fraud and scams. If this applies here they are likely to close your account following their review.

Whilst Revolut might be following the same fraud investigation processes as banks do, they are presently not a bank. They further distinguish themselves from banks by having the most atrocious customer service as you can only contact them via the app - - which they lock you out of when they lock your account. There is a reason why the Internet is littered with complaints about them, e.g. here

That sounds pretty good! I trust you have now moved your funds and closed your Revolut account?
  • I've moved the majority, not closing it, but I shall only use it as a holiday account, putting minimal funds in.

It would be good to know how you managed to resolve this and what lengths you had to go were, if you're willing to share.
