Vueling flight credit....will never use in time

Hi
I have a Vueling flight credit for £1k, which I had to take as they weren't refunding. This runs out April 2022 but the way things are I can't see this being used by then. I have read nearly all of the info and I know that anyone can use the voucher but as most of my friends , family are in the same age group as me 59 +, nobody wants to go anywhere in the next year or so.
Is there any way I can get the refund to my card if we don't use.

TIA
COOKY

As they are EU based airline I thought you could ask from a refund instead of a credit note if they did not operate the flight.

He/she could have, but by accepting the voucher, they have waived all rights to a cash refund.
April '22 is a long way off...
They were refunding, they may have delayed it but they had a legal obligation to refund.

I don’t think it is clear from the OP whether the airline cancelled, or the OP cancelled having decided they did not wish to fly and instead availed the option of a travel waiver/credit for future travel.
  • What were the circumstances of the voucher being issued - was the flight cancelled or did it operate?

Until the future unfolds no one knows. Unfortunately personal opinion carries no weight. A question at the moment of wait and see.

The flight was cancelled due to not being able to leave the UK.
    Thanks

Perhaps Vueling will follow Sister Company BA's example and extend to April 2023.

Until recently there was no direct instruction not to leave the UK for leisure travel. Previously it was worded as a "travel advisory".

If Vueling operated the flight yet you decided against flying then there is no automatic right to a refund from the airline.  It seems Vueling offered you a goodwill gesture of a travel waiver and credit on what would normally be a restrictive non-refundable ticket.

If you felt you could not fly another option at the time might have been a travel insurance claim.

Based on the information supplied unfortunately the answer to your question ("Is there any way I can get the refund to my card if we don't use") is - No.

Vueling may extend the period to use the credit but they don't have to.

Another one bites the dust !!!
Why did you have to take the credit ?
    Chargeback every time !!

I don’t think a chargeback would have been appropriate. I suspect this is a case of the travelling party not being willing or able to fly to Spain because of a FCDO travel advisory with the flight operated but they just were not on it.
