Virgin Media price hike my experience

From my own experience had a original contract end date of Jan 2022 for £37 for broadband 100 and call package, going up by £3.50.
I called on 25th Jan, agents messed up and moved my contract to 18 months without my consent at £32.50 going up to 46 from Jan next year!. The agent said oh I can give you 5 pounds off for 18 months, I thought 5 pounds off 37! my bad!. When I got a contract email I was confused and livid then realised what happened.
After various calls back and fourth this week, no one could revert me to my old contract. Got a another new contract but it was 18 months and didn't show the discounts. I managed to get it manually corrected to back 12 months at 37 for 6 months and 40.50 for 6 months, but the physical contract still didn't reflect this and still said 18 months.
I thought I try again this weekend and finally today managed to get slightly better deal via the UK retentions team, locked in for 18 months at £34 a month with a proper contract showing exact price for the duration of the contract.
Now here's the fun fact, Virgin will have another price rise next year March (they did it the year before) so if I want to move I will be able to cancel and get out of the contract without penalty once they trigger the price rise or renegotiate. The agent said no price rise for 18 months.
Moral of the story you have to haggle to get anything out of Virgin and be prepared to waste time calling them up. But they gave me a good deal in the end so I am happy.
