PAC number from Three

So my missus had a really bad experience with three multiple times last time they missold a tariff in the end they decided to cancel the contract so I don't follow complain and take it further and they changed it to pay as you go so she can keep the number and top up and use it still. Found a deal on O2 and wanted to keep the number I had with three for good 3+ years. Followed instruction from O2 advisor texted 65075 and the response was" The number is no longer active on Three"  ?? How come while I'm having a sim with that number I'm my phone. Is there any other way to keep that number.

Call Three to speak to them from that PAYG phone? 333 should be free.

Has the number made a call, sent a text in the last 6 months?  If not it's been disconnected.
How long ago was the number moved from contract to payg?  If it's only been a day or so the port may not have gone through you. Also, I think with Three, they send you a new sim when they change from contract to payg. So, if you're still using the contract sim that could by why you're getting that message.

I have just got my PAC from Three. I was on payg and got it through my online account.
