Why do some retailers/retail park managers go overboard to take the side of parking companies and so readily treat their genuine customers as the pariahs in the equation? It's not as though the OP was a fly parker! Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

OP should write a very robust complaint to each and every retail outlet in the complex Imposing time limits on how long one must spend in these places is senseless imo, He/she she should also write his/her MP, the local chamber of commerce, the landowner, local papers and radio stations and the Tourist office. Alcso write bad stuff on twitter, Facebook, etc.

Its fine - when you win any claim, send a leter before claim to the owners suing them for their agents breach of the DPA4

Thanks for all your replies.
I have received the SAR but not really sure what to do with it! It had screenshots of some internal system they are using with pretty much 2 pics of the car and the entry and exit times and personal information I guess they managed to get (name, address, etc).
I 100% agree with Umkomaas. I do not understand why the retail park takes the side of these agents. Do they actually get a cut of the profits?
Considering the comments from nosferatu - I am wondering if it also worth sending a SAR to the landowner to see what information they have on me. What is the DPA breach you think has occurred here?
I feel 1 more email exchange with the retail park owners is best before going to my MP as I want it to be clear I have tried to go it without escalating to him first. The question is whether there are any specific questions / content anybody here would suggest within my next reply to the landowner?0 -
Any progress to report on this, @_blueberry_?2

Was just looking through my account and noticed I had not posted a response here. I know, it was a while ago and I apologise - particularly given how helpful everybody here has been!
In short - I ended up emailing the CEO and all senior staff at the retail park, cc-ing in anyone whose email address I could get my hands on. One of the staff came back to me with the same typical response that the parking company managed the parking and pointing me to them. He took out some of the addresses in the chain but I added them back in to keep it as a fairly public debate.
Ultimately I guess he felt that his reputation was at stake over a small sum that they probably would never see, so he instructed the parking company to cancel the "PCN" after quite a few back and forths.
That was a good day
