Root Barrier recommendations
I have had bamboo from next garden coming on to my property. As far as I am aware the offending plant has been removed. But it seems to have travelled from the far side of there garden in to my.
I am going to get some root barrier to put down and fingers crossed that will put an end to the issue. I was wondering if someone here could recommend a place to buy it from?
Thanks in advance
Yours

How deep down are the roots? It varies.

There is a local gardening job I do for an elderly couple, they had some bamboo to remove.
Bamboo really is a bit of a buggah, needs digging out thoroughly. The job I am referring to was getting close to weedkiller time then it stopped appearing. Will know for sure this growing year if the digging worked. It has an appalling reputation.

Best of fortune with your problem..._Thanks. I know its pain hence I would never plant the stuff in the ground. It use to be in pot in the garden but for some reason probably because she knew everything. She planted it in the ground on the far side of her garden. So the roots have travelled a long way under the her patio. And it only started coming up after we had removed the gravel in an area on our side of the fence.Might have to get the person to dig out the whole area to get to all the roots. Also need to get a map of ulilities as I have in my head there is a pipe running down the garden close to that section.YoursCalley xHope for everything and expect nothing!!!

A metre sounds a bit extreame. That's one heck of a depth. Even half a metre is going to leave you with an area spoiled for some of the summer as it won't be possible to dig straight down. It will have to come out a bit wider than that.As it didn't pop up when you had gravel down there it could be that that was as far as the roots could go without coming to the surface.

So rather go deeper and done in one than having to re do again because I was not deep enough. Not sure what you mean by an area spoiled. Its going down to gravel once the barrier has been put down.YoursCalley x

Calley from your post "And it only started coming up after we had removed the gravel in an area on our side of the fence."That seemed to say that you'd removed gravel from the area and the roots/shoots came up.If they hadn't come up when there was gravel (and presumably weedproof matting under) it was to be guessed that you removed it to put something else there. If you are going to replace it the same wouldn't that stop the roots/shoots again the same as before?

A job that never got finished and then bamboo came up. The whole point of the root barrier is to stop any more roots making there way on to my property. And then I can deal with the issue on my side before I put new weed barrier and gravel down. My concerns are that the roots will travel further in to my garden to find a new area to pop up in. As it has already travelled the width of a house under a patio. I prefer the belt and braces approach. All I am after is a website or a brand of root barrier so that I can purchase it.YoursCalleyHope for everything and expect nothing!!!

I heard of a Subsidence case round here recently. The trees were not removed, but a root barrier was installed and very deep. That company uses Copper impregnated root barriers,
I don't know exactly what was used, but I found this above. It has copper and mentions bamboo. I wonder if they could also advise you how deep to go?1 -
