Morning all
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need especially Ruby and MM.
I can't eat white chocolate but I'll eat stuff I don't like, too many years of being hungry I think. I like beans on toast but don't like them with other food.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Ruby thinking of you and your family at this time

Loving the food based posts! They are making me smile. I only hate fish, not keen on honey and love baked beans with mash - it's my comfort food when not feeling well. That and custard.
There were some unknown foods I refused to eat when in Jordan, mind you there were some known foods I also wouldn't eat - think Indiana Jones. One of my friends can't bear any of her food touching other food on the plate.
Caulilower soup down the loo now. Not giving it fridge room, sorry MSE.11 -
Good morning all
Apologies as I half typed an update yesterday and then it got deleted before I posted as I was reading everyones updates and I got cheesed off after that!
I felt so rubbish yesterday - just really under the weather and tired so told my boss and had an afternoon doing nowt, still feeling grotty today but I did sleep well with weird dreams 9pm till 7 am so I must have needed some extra kip.
Up and showered and breakfasted today and the coffee is working so I will see how I go energy wise.
Last night was butternut squash and pea risotto for all and I made some gingerbread. Tonight will be a chicken, butternut squash, potato and spinach curry with some HM naan - if I can get my bum in gear and organise it early ie put in the Aga at lunch and mix the naan then we are easily sorted.
Just downloaded the shopmium app so will see if I can get any of the offers on that (there is a lindt bar and some oat milk - will have to see if they sell the specific brand of oat milk at our local sains b - DD doesn't like dairy milk and we all like oat milk and use a lot.
We get through quite a lot of coffee but get the beans and grind them so did a big shop of normal and decaf beans this week (3 Kilos in total) but this should last us probably about 2-3 months so works out at around £10 a month. The white & rye bread I made at the weekend got sliced and frozen and I have been defrosting a couple of slices or even putting frozen on the Aga to toast and it is delicious so will be making more of that at the weekend, especially since I managed to get rye and strong flour at the weekend. Its not great for sandwiches but great for toast!! I do end up buying 'normal' brown bread to keep the menfolk happy but not as much!
Just trying to not spend apart from essentials at the mo (hubby keeps buying 'essentials' on amazon though!!)
DS made a lovely desk for DDs new PC so I gave him £50 and the metal was about £100 and the wood was free so that was a great minimalist stylish desk for £150 (similar look to desks when I look online for around £500) so its going to be head down now and see if we can keep the spends low and see if we can save some £££ !
Will give mum a call later and see how they are doing - they haven't had their vaccine yet and I will be happier when they get called (rural n wales)

I too would eat anything when I was younger (apart from corned beef and rhubarb - still can't stomach those). I think it was a case of eat it or go hungry!
I have got a lot fussier as I've got older but I think a lot of that is because I can be.
I don't mind baked beans about once a year but only in a bowl on their own, couldn't cope if they touched anything else on a plate! Can't have toast with scrambled egg that's touched the toast in case it goes soggy!
I hate custard!!
And gravy.12 -
Great food stories
I hated cheese when I was a kid mum used to make a shepards pie with cheese on top of the mash ...she had to leave a portion cheeselessNow i would happily eat cheese 24hrs. Also hated liver (my favourite meal now) The one I have been able to get my head round is tripe which my dad had every Friday I had beans on toast instead

Hello all, loving the food posts. Good to know that I'm not the only weirdo when it comes to food ! But in my defence I grew up with a lot of food based allergies...... and things like tobacco and house dust, don't know how I survived my childhood
Now I eat almost everything except coconut and butchers sausages, they have a texture I can't swallow and melon and grapes which give me a sore throat
Another worrywart here who tends to relive conversations thinking I should have said this or that.
I'm having a quiet day today as I feel I've been like the energy bunny for the last few days and now I've run out of juice. I have stripped the bed so that will need re-making later, I'll let it air for a while with the window open, even though it's a dreary grey day. I will also check my stores for anything low or missing and make a list ready to add to my next orders, I'll also check the dates of things while I'm at it. And that's all for today. There is some roast chicken leftover from yesterday, so maybe I'll ask my chef to make a curry or something else for tea.Hugs to all today, thinking of the poorly ones and those who are having difficult/down times.Take care all, stay safe and keep well.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently12 -

I hate custard!!
And gravy. You make fab rhubarb and ginger jam! Mind you, I don't like eating raw rhubarb, too many strings. Inevitably, I had roasted cheese for my supper yesterday, one piece slathered with ketchup and the one with a heavy grind of black pepper. So blooming lovely.I'm toying with the idea of making Portuguese custard tarts (Pastéis de Nata), only hesitating over doing the lamination. I'll watch the video a few more times before deciding. It's absolutely tipping it down outside, the heavy kind of rain which just soaks through everything. I picked up my new mixing bowl from Marks, luckily I opened the box there and then only to find it smashed to smithereens. A replacement is on order.Let's hope that the rain stops soon before we all get washed away.

Afternoon all,Absent again, still feeling the after effects of CovidGers definitely agree, much better to be safe, it's an absolutely horrible virus and is still knocking us for 6. Sorry I cant join in with the foodie posts
, just the thought of food is enough to turn my stomach. I've hardly eaten anything .for 2 weeks , but I did have a potato cake earlier which actually tasted ok. I've also had to throw quite a bit of food away as we just werent eating it and it's gone over. I did try to squeeze some into the freezer but there's not much space left in there.
Anyway, enough moaning from me, stay safe and well xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)12 -
Oh dear I left out custard, vile gloop. And milk puddings, except the burnt bit on top, and peas which are a really pointless vegetable.
I can't have peppers or fresh pineapple as they upset my innards horribly but that's not a faddy thing.
Apparently I wasn't this difficult as a child except with cottage pie, having been put off by my mother's version and also apple charlotte. The horror of being given both for a school lunch back in the 1950s and I did try to tell the dinner lady that I couldn't bear either. But this was a school where, just like home, you were made to eat it. So I did and was violently sick. Just like at home.
My husband tried to make me eat soft herring roe, cooked in butter, he says he never saw anyone be so sick so quick.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back10
