O/S Daily Thursday 4 February 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark, air is cool, but dry underfoot.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm enjoying my first cuppa and will go for a shower once they have left for work and I'll get my brekkie then too. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was HM lasagna and chips for the menfolk, I had lasagna and salad. Tonight I'm not sure but will sort today.
My car passed it's MOT yesterday so at least that didn't cost loads of money.
Today I'm going to get the housework done, I also need to buy a sack of potatoes and a couple of items so I'll get those and then get home and that's where I'll stay for the rest of the day. I did get another couple of jobs done too.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks. Thanks for starting us off. Good to hear about your car.My debacle of yesterday really played in my mind all day and most of the night even though things are OK. I worry too much sometimes and other times can easily shrug off stuff. The cauliflower, garlic and turmeric soup was rank. The only taste was of garlic and the colour is very strange, more grey than yellow. Won't be making that again. Wednesday wasn't a great day for me. 😅 Today will be better.DM's cleaner is coming this morning so I need to go round emptying the bedrooms, bathroom and living room waste bins and emptying the DW. When she's here I'll go out, first time since Saturday. Later I'll download my new audio book which is released today. Small mercies. That's it, I'm sending out hugs and good vibes to everyone. Happy Thursday to all.13

PS - the cleaner has just phoned me, the woman who takes her to work each morning has had to have a COVID test because of exposure at her other job. This woman will get her result later tonight so we've agreed to postpone until tomorrow- if all's well. Best to be safe than very sorry.I'll still go out today, going a little stir crazy.12

Good morning and thanks for starting NMLC. Pleased your car got through the MOTWet here as usual, the river in the park is really high, and running very quickly, the birds are all out on the grass.I didn't post yesterday, there was nothing to say, however I kept busy. I went into our bedroom to start the dreaded window and mirror cleaning, and ended up emptying the 2 double wardrobes, cleaning inside, replacing the contents, then cleaning the floor to ceiling mirrored doors. I felt a bit ashamed, I don't clean them often enough. Not everything went back in, some stuff went in the chazzer bag, I cleaned the window as well. The window cleaner didn't turn up but I didn't expect him, what with the weather being so bad.So I've made a start, I'll carry on today. We received letters yesterday about our vaccinations, so we arranged them straightaway, it'll be done at the weekend at a medical centre 3 miles away. That was excellent news, we were really pleased. My hair is starting to look a bit desperate, most days all that can be said for it is that it's clean.. DD tells ne to cut it myself, there's tutorials on youtube she says, but there's no way I'm cutting my own hair..I don't have suitable scissors anyway. So that's the news from me, I think it has to continue raining, what a surprise ! I noticed our snow drops have hardly opened, they're all through I think, but they're struggling this year..Thinking of Ruby, and Marie, and others struggling with life.Take care folks13

Morning All
Still raining here this morning but thankfully so far we've avoided the dreaded snow. I did wonder if it would appear overnight as the sleet was quite heavy when I went to bed.
I had the best nights sleep for a long time, feel quite refreshed this morning. I'll meet DD and the little one later for a walk if the weather isn't too bad. I also have a parcel to collect from the delivery office, no idea what it is so there's a surprise in store!
Washing up to date, dusted and hoovered downstairs yesterday, just the downstairs bathroom to clean this morning.
Thinking of you Ruby and Marie and anyone else struggling.
Very annoying about your vaccination Gers.
Have a good day, take care. XX10 -
Good morning and thank you for starting today's thread nmlc.
Gers, I'm not surprised about the soup but then I'm not very keen on turmeric. Reading through yesterday's posts, I'm with Nelski on the tomato thing and the only way I can eat baked beans is on toast. I am apparently the world's worst picky eater. I dislike bananas, melon and pears, the texture is the problem and beetroot. Don't like tomato ketchup, liver, kidneys or the brains of things, pork or lamb chops but will eat roast meat, breakfast cereals except for muesli or granola, there are lots more but I can't think of them at the moment. I got in trouble with my OH last night. He asked what I'd like for dinner and I said egg and chips but the chips were wrong, all soggy so I left them and now I'm in his bad books. Again.
I had a text directing me to the nhs website to book a jab but you have to be registered with a gp so I've done that online and waiting for confirmation so that I can book. I haven't seen a doctor for about 5 years. I would have got round to it in the end. I was registered with our old surgery but now we are too far away.
Yesterday I got some bedding almost dry on the line and I've just pegged out a load of towels and kitchen cloths. Not holding out much hope of them drying, it is dull with no breeze. But not raining, woohoo.
I have no interesting plans for today. I was trying to think back to a time when I did have an interesting plan but what an age ago!
Hope everyone has a decent day.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back13 -
Morning
Gers Im the same with worrying. Currently very little sleep worrying about mum getting her vax amongst 100s of other things. I swear the day I have nothing to worry about I will worry that there's nothing to worry about
Today is the dreaded monthly 3hr zoom call can't wit for that NOT
I'll stick to easy for dinner so a bacon and cheese burger will suffice. Nothing much else planned (clink thats another £1) I want to catch up with MAFS and Temptation Island ....classy viewing all round. Amazon are delivering my new Marion Keyes book in paperback finally so that may be started during the zoom from hell.
Have a good day all and love to Ruby as always

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Foggy here and still some lying snow. Apparently there's more to come Sunday onwards. I am sick of looking out at snow and worrying about my loved ones having to get to work in it. SCARLET I "visited" my DIY salon the other day and lopped a good amount off my fringe and the sides. Surprisingly it looks better for it!
The downstairs horrible big square bay had its frames cleaned yesterday, and the windows then cleaned too. My plan for today was to give my bedroom bay the same treatment but, what the heck, there will be plenty more stay at home days to do them in! So other than what has now become the regular Thursday jobs (kitchen and bathroom) nothing else is planned. I seem to have well and truly lost any GUAG I had.
The binmen have yet to arrive here. They are normally here by 7.00. I guess this week's snowfalls have put them behind schedule. Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need. Especially RUBY and MARIE. Take care one and all and stay safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"12 -
Morning all. Rubbish sleep. Well, it ws OK until OH decided that the cat being on the bed meant he had to invade where I was asleep and push me out. He's like that when the cat sits in his lap, he won't move until the cat does. Me, I have no problem moving him.Pizzas went down well, the base was nice, but I think I'll make a normal one next time, they were a bit difficult to roll out/push to the edges of the tin. Tasted good though and who knew you could do that with yoghurt and flour? And there's some left over for snacking/breakfast. Not sure of todays menu. I keep thinking about making stuffed peppers for a while now. I've had some peppers in the fridge drawer for about two months now. It's amazing how well they keep when the fridge/freezer is in the lean to in the cold and it somehow manages to keep everything, including milk, way past it's use by date.I ordered some wool online a couple of weeks ago to make a poncho because I felt like making something and it arrived eysterday. I'm quite disappoiinted. It's supposed to be chunk wool but it's just like normal dk wool. I'll have to find a stitch that makes it a bit sturdier if that makes sense. and not buy any wool unless I can see it in front of me.Gers, what a pain..but never mind you've dientified a recipe that isn't worth doing again :::smile: AOD et al, same for baked beans. I eat them maximum once a year and then only straight from the can with some brown sauce mixed in cold. I haven't had beans with anything on a plate since my father used to make us beans on toast for breakfast when we doing exams. I'm with TA for cheese, I love it, and most of them except Edam. And where TA has a thing about beans on plate, I have the same with tinned tomatoes and mash...It's just disgusting. Right then, off to do and hopefully finish the jigsaw, stay safe everyone, readers and posters, enjoy your day if you can, hugs to them that need them...or want them, I'm not a hug exclusionist...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi12

Good morning all; misty here this morning
Nothing much going on here. Today I'll have my weekly supermarket trip plus I have a bit of ironing to do. One load of washing is in the machine at the moment as well. I have a short note to write to a friend who isn't on the internet and doesn't have a smart phone. I'm sending him an arrangement of a couple of tunes, played as a set, and asking for his opinion. He's a far better musician than me and I value his opinion.
We finally get to do our family Secret Santa tonight as all the gifts are in the right houses! Guess I ought to have a glass of wine to celebrate.
I've defrosted some h/m tomato soup, which we will have later with a baguette. The biscuits I made yesterday didn't turn out very well. The mixture was too wet and they went thin and crispy but DH seems to like them.
Have a good day everyone12 -
AOD you sound like me as a child. I must have been a nightmare to feed. My brother was also picky but he ate different things. My father wouldn't have us made to eat anything we didn't like due to him being force fed as a child. Poor Mum.
Anyway, by the time we were grown up we were eating anything. Too much in my case.
Morning all.
Plans for today are get up, shower, dress, make bed (eventually) tidy up the pile of books on the floor, pick up one of them and start reading to see if I'm ready to put it in the CS bag, have lunch, finish the book, look at the clock and wonder if it is too early to go to bed...............
Sympathy to all those poor people who have not yet mastered the art of wasting time quite as efficiently as I have.
I'm thinking of RR, Marie and those who are suffering physically or mentally. Blessings to you all.
I believe that friends are quiet angels
