                    Hi,
I’m 4.5 years into the 6 year CIFAS Punishment. I can’t find many answers online as I’m not sure if CIFAS has become bigger in last few years but does anyone have any experience of once the 6 years is up, is it literally gone of the SAR the next day? Has anyone successfully been able to get a mortgage/credit card other agreements immediately after the 6 years has lapsed? Thanks in advance

There will probably be a delay in the record being removed by CIFAS and your credit files being updated by the 3 CRA’s depending on when your reports are generated so I’d be prepared for 4 / 6 weeks or so after the 6 years is up before starting to make applications. I’ve no practical experience of this though, so may be wrong.0

Thanks for the reply. I’ve got the at fault fraud marker which doesn’t appear on credit file only on cifas database directly. Thanks for taking the time to reply thoughDingerUK said:There will probably be a delay in the record being removed by CIFAS and your credit files being updated by the 3 CRA’s depending on when your reports are generated so I’d be prepared for 4 / 6 weeks or so after the 6 years is up before starting to make applications. Ther's no reason why it won't be immediate. It's not like it's someone's job to go in every day and delete the records (well I hope it isn't!) so when the clock strikes midnight it should vanish immediately.Jamesyb123 said:

The CRAs seem to advertise weekly reports now but you might find it is not immediately changed - you waited 6 years, another month won't be the end of the world. Check all 3 reports for free after the anniversary. Keep in mind though that even if the marker goes, lenders have long memories, any bank in a group affected may keep internal black lists.0

CIFAS markers won't show up on your credit report if they're markers from being a perpetrator. Only victim markers show up on credit reports.Deleted_User said:The CRAs seem to advertise weekly reports now but you might find it is not immediately changed - you waited 6 years, another month won't be the end of the world. When i asked them regarding my own file they said it is removed 6 years after the date the record was reported. There would be further record held on cifas and the banks would have no record of this (apparently).0

I take it you meant to say no further record held on cifas? That’s what I was told too when I spoke to them but I haven’t actually found any real life stories yet where people have been through the 6 years, wondering if cifas markers are a fairly new thing so nobody has actually done the 6 years yet.beckstas-money said:When i asked them regarding my own file they said it is removed 6 years after the date the record was reported. Yeah just seems strange that there’s no real life stories of somebody saying ‘I’ve done the 6 years and this is what happened afterwards’ if you get what I’m saying, lots of stories of people having them but haven’t been able to find Anyone who’s done the 6 years. Mines not too far off so I’ll be able to advise others when my times doneYahoo_Mail said:

Well, presumably it's because what happens is exactly what you expect to happen. People just carry on with their lives.Jamesyb123 said:
