  • Is there a thing where people can phone and disguise their real number as a different one?  Our landline shows the contact name and their number, and occasionally the 'name' has been one number but the actual number shown below is different.  I've also read warnings to be wary even if say your bank phones from a number, to hang up and you phone them back using the number on your bank card.  I just wonder if it's possible it's not a legit call but appears to be a correct number.

    Yes, these are the methods used by scam electronic voice calls(Your broadband will be..., Amazon Prime..., etc) 

    Don't ever hang up and then ring the number on your bank card using the same phone. The scammers just keep the line open and another person pretends to be the bank. Use a separate phone to call your bank
