  • Hi savingholmes, we did think about clearing the rest with a loan but think its still too high and also banks aren't keen on clearing your mortgage as a reason for taking out a loan even if its a lower rate. At the moment, we can overpay as much as we want into our mortgage and some loans wouldn't allow us to do that.

  • Hi there Beanielou, it is a lot to be able to overpay but it has taken us a long time to get here.
I know from other threads that you're a kitty person and we're a kitty family here, mind you they've been demanding to be referred to as co-workers since I've been wfh.

Extra overpayments might be off the cards for the rest of the month. At Christmas Mr Porridge lost his Varifocal glasses while collecting stuff from the food bank for the parcels we were packing at the school. We went back afterwards to find out that they'd been run over by the rubbish truck. He went for a test on Saturday and has ordered two new pairs £318  :open_mouth: New glasses weren't a category I have in YNAB so I've had to juggle some other budgets around so I don't think there will be many more surpluses. I have now made an extra category for glasses.
