I am due to complete on a house purchase this friday using a friendly local solicitors firm. Everyone in the office has been really helpful and responsive, especially one of the secretaries and I would like to send a small gift. Usually I would send something edible like a fruit basket but I'm not sure if thats appropriate during a pandemic?

Any ideas?

    I don't see why it wouldn't be.

If anybody's particularly worried, they can wash the fruit pre-consumption. But if anybody's THAT paranoid, I'd assume they were working from home anyway...

I gave flowers to ours. I'm sure a big bunch of daffs or similar would be appreciated.

There's probably someone going to the office regularly if only to collect post. Might be worth asking if flowers could be sent to the office and then collected or passed on to your conveyancer.

Indeed! Ours was wonderful as were the EA staff. I gave them home-made cakes, biscuits and flap jacks (this was pre-covid).

Best thank you is a great public review.

I did so for a sale earlier this year for a solicitor and it really cheared him up, got him another instruction from someone who saw it (Google review), i got the impression it gave him a lift during depressive gloomy Covid Bozo-f*ck-storm .

Think most people never even think to say thank you, good for you!

I've been wondering exactly the same. I've had dealings with our conveyancer & 2 assistants/secretaries and they've all been lovely during a really stressful time. I was thinking 3 different bottles of wine and a big tin of chocolates or fancy biscuits they can share when they are in the office.

Lovely idea!  Far too many clients are demanding and hard to please and will leave negative reviews, while clients who are happy with the service don't bother reviewing, so it is uplifting to hear that you are happy OP!  I'm sure they will be delighted with your gift, but please do try and leave a positive review too!
