The two highlighted ones are different MAC addresses, I presume the 04:d3... is the laptop in question, all the other entries are from different devices. The most recent entry is not just a different MAC but also to a different network adapter ath10 rather than ath00 - presumably they correspond to the 2 and 5 ghz wifi.

Something else might be amiss though, the 9c:fc device doesn't seem to be able to maintain a connection, just wondering whether your wifi router is mis-configured. Would be interested in knowing what the 9c:fc device is and your model of wifi router?

EDIT: Just done some reading up online, guessing Plus Net or BT router from the format of the log entries. A lot of people have these disconnect problems in the log, some say a firmware update sorted it out, others said it needed a factory reset and some said the router is just junk and get a proper one!

Either way does make me wonder whether the router rather than the laptop is the source of your woes?

Thanks for that. Sorry for the confusion - the 9c:fc device is acutally a new Asus laptop we installed yesterday. The 'problem' laptop is the 78:0c one. Seems like the Asus was having trouble last night, when we thought it was in sleep mode. Actually I see that one of our smart plugs the 50:c7 one was also doing something odd in the night (connected to a lamp, switched off).
The router is a Plusnet one - I can't see any model ID other than "Plusnet Hub One" fitted at least 4 years ago. This problem didn't exist until around 3 or 4 weeks ago. It'll be interesting if we get the same problem with the new Asus laptop. I wonder how I could get a firmware update for the Hub - if one exists. I'll search for that. Whe I've had the problem of not being able to connect, I just reset it. Wonder if I should find out how to factory reset? Thanks again.

If it's an older hub then it might be on its way out ... e.g. failing PSU capacitors.

  • My plusnet hub was shocking too. Getting another router resolved my issue.
