I would suggest that MIA's "occupation" of your late GF's house is the bigget single issue that you have. There are many threads on MSE about this kind of problem.

WRT the executor account specifically. You might try Nat West. The process for opening an Executor account is tortuous, but may work to your advantage.

In order to open a joint executor executor account we had to:

1. Open a regular single account
2. Make it a joint account
3. Provide probate to turn into executor account

I wonder if it possible to skip step 2?
