How can I get a credit card or loan with a not very good credit rating? I’m getting married in a few weeks and I don’t even have a dress 👗

Try an eligibility checker.
But there's never any need to buy a dress on credit. Just buy something within your budget.

You’d be looking at checking Vanquis/Aqua/Barclaycard Forward really.
But the advice above is sound, if you can’t afford it now it’s absolutely not worth getting into more debt if you have bad credit to begin with.
Not to discount a special day, but you’ve got to think of the damage to your credit file which can take years to recover too.2 -
There are some really amazing dresses on eBay. One of my work colleagues got one sent from china and it was beautiful and completely affordable. Also look on marketplaces. I don't think it's worth getting into debt with, trust me I wasted over £1000 on mine 11 years ago for it to get stained with red wine and then thrown in the loft.1

There are plenty of bad examples of Chinese made ones found online. OP would do better buying something second hand if they are on a budget or just buying a generic dress to avoid the wedding markup

Oxfam have a shops which only stock wedding dresses - it's a dress you'll probably wear once, so I'd really avoid piling on any debt to buy it.
Also online it seems...

Or, if you really must have a "new dress" then ASOS have a range online which aren't too pricey

In cost per wear terms, you're better spending more money on your wedding ring - but I wouldn't go into (more) debt for that either.

And if getting married "in a few weeks" there's no guarantee a dress from China would arrive in time.Deleted_User said:There are plenty of bad examples of Chinese made ones found online. I think with 2 weeks to go, in a pandemic, with bad credit ... it's unlikely you'll find anything on credit.
Need to get shopping on ebay I think, look at the charity shops Oxfam etc, they'll usually have a specialised shop on ebay.1 -
Don't start married life in debt. Live within your means. Your future self will thank you for it - particularly when you are doing all those nice things in life that you would not be able to if all your spare income was paying interest on debts for past expenses.Laura27181 said:How can I get a credit card or loan with a not very good credit rating? Hi, I'm not trying to burst bubbles or anything but do you think it may be worth waiting a while to get married? Until coronavirus is a bit more under control that is.
Or if you do want to get married in a few weeks, then do that but have a big party later on - again, when coronavirus is hopefully on the way out. Plus that gives you more time to save for a really spectacular outfit.
Going into debt for dress you'll wear once in front of a very small gathering during a pandemic doesn't make a lot of sense.
Just a thought! Or two . . .
