Don't miss the little church of 'Our Lord in the Attic'. It is in the heart of the red light district.
  • Have a ride round on the trams so cheap for about 2 euros ....
  • Heineken Museum is also good if the weather is a bit poor.

Also try one of the Canal tours. Its quite interestng watching them try a 3 point turn in a busy canal

Vist the pipes - the market area it is walkable from the centre. Cheaper food. Watch out for the Morocan food in the church in the market area. Stunning.

There's lots to see and do. Talk to the people on reception for upto date stuff.

AA canal ride is cheap and can give you ideas of what to see.

If you're going to the Anne Franks house, go 1 hour before it closes. There are queues all day but at that time it's fairly quiet. There's a canal boat museum trip that takes you to near the museums. You can hop on and off it and suit yourself how long you want to stay at each one.

  • If you want to venture out a little bit to the south of the city you can go on a tour of the Amsterdam arena.
They split everybody into groups depending on your language.
    It's very colorful!
  • Hiya,

Thanks for all your replies :T

I'm back now, had a great time although i did find the dutch quite unfriendly, may have been because i was in a mixed group of 6.

Went to Anne Frank house, sex museum was funny, sadly didnt make it to the torture museum. Dam square was impressive and they had some people dressed up which i found hilarious...hmmm, wasn't so funny watching it back though, lol

what else is there to do in the @dam, other than the things already mentioned.. and the van gogh museum? im currently deliberating between a trip to paris and a trip tp amsterdam, and paris is currently leading because of there being much more to do (well, things that immediatly spring to mind anyway)

the resistance museum and the modern art are both good, you can get a museum pass that does all the official state run museums free and discounts on loads of other things. Plus tram bus and underground travel for a time period.
