Hi Have used VCC and my experience has been really awful.

I sent them a parcel on 18/10/24 and was received by them on 21/10/24.

I had not been contacted within the seven days so contacted them by phone and was informed my parcel had not been opened due to the volume of parcels in their warehouse.I asked that my parcel be returned unopened  and the person I spoke confirmed it would be returned to me unopened and she would not VCC system NO OFFER MADE.

I never received my parcel as promised , after much chasing two weeks later I received a parcel but the contents of that parcel were not my items ,they were someone else’s .

Contacted  VCC straight away to inform them I had received a box of items that were not mine. They asked me if I was certain.I informed them there was no doubt they were not mine.VCC booked a ParcelForce collection to return the parcel to them.

However they could not tell me where my items were at that point.

Long Story Short I have had to wait weeks for VCC to investigate the matter and have now been informed that they cannot locate my items
and due to a system error and label mix up I was sent items that were not mine.VCC want to offer me £50 as compensation for my lost items
    which consisted of :-1:

5 Vintage Ladies Watches all in excellent condition. One it’s its original Box with all its papers ,one never worn.
Plus a Vintage Anniversary Zippo Lighter in original box.An Olympus Trip Camera,A Vintage Silver Plated Christening Mug,A pair of Binoculars
    and a Vintage Necklace.

The position at this time is they are not responding to my emails.

I have today requested a Service Access Request (SAR) under The Data Protection Act 2018 from VCC and asked that it includes copies of all phone calls between VCC staff and myself.

As my intentions are to take the matter further in an attempt to locate my items or receive compensation to reflect the true value of my lost/ stolen items.

In my experience VCC are a complete disgrace with no morals and my advice is steer clear of them ,They no more than SCAMMERS.

Not sure about scammers, but they were certainly incompetent and chaotic with your items.  I would not hold your breath over the SAR as I suspect that you are very unlikely to get transcripts of phone calls.
In your position you could consider using the small claims process providing your loss is substantially more than their offer.  Start by sending a letter before action mentioning your loss, getting a certificate of posting and then if there is no response opening a claim.  You will need to provide evidence of the monetary value of the items you sent, using sold prices on Ebay perhaps, to succeed in a claim.  If you do go ahead with a claim, keep it factual and concise - there is no point talking about worry or stress as the court will not consider anything apart from the monetary value of the lost items.

I am posting this to help others not to be caught in this trap,
The trap is called VINTAGE CASH COW which shall be known from now as
                                               VINTAGE CASH CON
                          -------------------------------------------------------------------
As a honest person myself I do tend to trust others but now at 75 years old I am still learning not to. On the 16th of 10th 2024 I posted a box of valuables to CASH CON . Two days later I received an e mail telling me that my box had arrived and our valuers are chomping at the bit to peek inside. I was delighted and was eagerly waiting for a good result. I then spoke to a person by phone who told me the full box had been valued at £17.00.  I just could not believe it as in my box was an antique green marble mantle clock which had been valued at £1,562.53 on Etsy. The other bits and pieces I know were not worth a lot but certainly more than £17.00. I of course refused the offer and asked that the box be sent back, it was a few days later but of course the valuable clock had gone missing. Like many other peoples valuable items I have read about in the CASH CON reviews.
I have tried to contact them by email and phone, the emails are always the same; we are looking into it and will be in contact with you soon, the phone is simply not answered.
Then I had an email from Nathanael weeks later telling me that the clock had been damaged and according to their contract it would be disposed of before somebody was injured. So it must have been damaged in transit by Parcel Force, I looked into this. Parcel Force would only deal with the people who paid the postage which was CASH CON and they said that it was a breakable item which was not covered in their contract with Parcel Force.  Although they do have many clocks in the pictures in the catalogue of what they want some of these are Onex or marble antique clocks .
So where am I now, I have lost the clock that was in the family for many years, I do not expect to ever get it back again, according to many emails these people are getting away with stealing hard working peoples valuables which have been in their families for many years. Only one persons review mentions the police should be told and these people arrested and jailed. I agree and I do hope that others here do so as well. I know that I will be speaking to the police in Leeds. For what good that will do I don’t know. But to help others I will try.
I have asked for a photo of the damaged clock, and also have told them that I want the clock back damaged or not and I will pay the postage.  I am still waiting for an answer.  I think I will wait a long time.
Just for your peace of mind I would mention that an antique green marble mantle clock is not worth more than £50 unless the piece is signed by a distinguished maker, or the mechanism is special. I don’t know how you managed to get a valuation from Etsy, I assume you mean you’ve seen other listed there with speculative valuations an assume they know what they are talking about. Try looking instead on eBay sold listings.

however that does not detract from the fact that you used CC postage which I assume was chosen by them and paid for by them, and that you packed to any specification that they required? If so I would be looking to go back to them putting the onus on them again, but perhaps accepting your clock was not worth a great deal.

  • Yes I found the same clock for sale on ETSY FOR £1560.00. I ALSO TOOK IT TO A JEWELER AND IT WAS ESTIMATED TO be WORTH ABOUT THE SAME. If you can find one the same I will be glad to pay £50 for it. In fact I will buy two.

If you have a valuation from a jeweller then you may stand a better chance of getting compensation. Use the valuation from the jeweller to prove that the current offer of compensation is far too low.

  • Does it have any unique markings that you have photographs of?, I would keep an eye on online auctions for it, if you see it for sale report it to the Police as selling stolen goods.
  • I used Vintage cash cow recently and all I can say is SELLER BEWARE. Their advertisements on TV should be banned. They cheated me out of my possessions when I refused their appalling offer and wanted my items returned of which they said they'd lost my parcel. Then offered me what they called a "goodwill gesture" which was more than their valuation but because I didn't ask for a higher insurance put on it that's all they could offer. I had the usual standard apology emails but not good enough. Some of my items were unique and if I ever see them about someone will be accountable. So if I could I would give them a minus -10 star rating

I know there is a post on here about this company but the last entry was over 2 years ago.
So I'm wondering if anyone has any recent experience of them please, good or bad?
Awful service.  Would never use again.  Sent parcel, tracking shows delivered (middle Nov) - they have lost it.  Have been chasing since end Nov for resolution.  Finally had compensation offer mid Jan which I accepted and have heard nothing since.  Chased several times.  No payment received, being ignored by them.
  • Sadly I come across this company a couple of weeks ago. I sent some unused watches a camera and my sons coin collection left to him by his late grandfather .They called and said they were worth only £25 so I asked them to return all items. When I received them 2 coins were ripped out of the coin book and 10 loose ones were also missing .They have accepted liability and in the pursuing battle they say they have spoken to the person involved and they have misplaced them so they will give me some they have floating around and £50 or I can get the following
A receipt for the item ?
A Valuation certificate completed within the last 10 years ???
A Sold listing from an auction site such as eBay ???
How on earth can that be done when they have stolen the coins !!!!
Please don't use this company they are fraudsters and leave you with a great sense of loss and injustice Shame on them for taking advantage of honest hard working people.

I think it's a good idea to check reviews before you send valuable items to a company.
I've viewed the recent advert where people just chuck stuff into a box with no packaging.
    I wouldn't trust this company.
