opened up a resolver complaint which was the easiest way to detail the quite complicated issue
I suspect lots of people have got the email you mentioned, ,myself included, so BG are going to get a flood of complaints
Thanks for that, I'm guessing your resolver complaint is against BG as Ebico no longer exist,i'm a bit confused as to how an alleged debt to Ebico has been "transferred".

As to "lots of people", the Ebico guy I spoke to told me that over 3000 people had already queried excessive final bills before I phoned them,"if it makes you feel any better". It didn't.

it mentions the "transfer" of the "debt" on the ebico homepage https://ebico-energy.org.uk/
still hard to believe thats even legal
Yes my complaint on resolver is with BG as ebico has fully shut down now - I wish I'd got a final bill from Ebico as at least then I would have had chance to correct it before now

Presumably this doesn't follow the "rules" of a supplier failure where an SOLR is appointed - in these cases the administrators of the defunct Co. have to pursue debts. Looks like BG purchased RHE along with its customers ,credits and debts before it actually went into administration.

Another complication to this issue is that if you cancel the British Gas direct debit to prevent BG taking the "debt collection" money then their system automatically puts you on a higher tariff & demands you pay the sum immediately - talk about adding insult to injury

Update: After giving up trying to get through to BG on the phone, more in hope than expectation and so I could say I tried, I started filling in the Resolver form then decided to give BG one more try....and got connected straight away. I spoke to a helpful guy called Oscar who listened and said he'd go through my Robin Hood history to see where the anomaly is, my average payment used to be between £80-100 and they can see I was up to date on 13th April 2020. Basically Robin Hood are saying I used £650 worth of gas and electricity in the 11 weeks between then and November 3rd. As I pointed out to Oscar ,I've just put my latest meter readings on the BG website so they can see how little I use.
He's going to call me back on Monday morning so hopefully progress then.I'll let you know how I got in. I very much doubt mine is the only call they've had with the same issue.

When Yorkshire Energy folded my dual fuel provider became ScottishPower. A few weeks ago I switched to BritishGas Energy Plus Protection Feb 2022v6 tariff by filling in the form on MSE website. BritGas have notified me that the switch is now complete but they've only sent me paperwork about gas supply, not the dual fuel switch I thought I'd applied for. Is it possible to see a copy of the MSE form I filled in so I can check whether I ticked the dual fuel box? Also my Yorkshire final balance was £144 in credit and I've received nothing yet, nor any indication from Scottish that £144 has been credited to my account with them. On top of all that BritGas now seem impossible to contact. What an exasperating shambles!

Further update................he didn't. So much for Oscar.
I have just noticed that on my latest bill the "previous supplier" charge is still the same but has now been split but under the same date, for example this is what they claim I owe Robin Hood for electricity The lower figure would be about right,as is lower gas figure on the bill in the same format. Whether they've re-calculated as promised but have stuffed up I don't know....of course if they'd phone when they promise to................
1 Mar 2021 Debit from your last supplier £358.49
1 Mar 2021 Debit from your last supplier £73.58

FYI there are two debits on my BG account too - one is pretty clearly for my gas & is about right but the other £224 for electric should be about £17
So its possible/probable your two debits also are split for gas & electric

Both of those amounts are for electricity, there are another 2 for gas. Until that bill BG were saying the total of each was owed to the previous supplier, there's no explanation for why both amounts have now been split on the bill, there are other amounts for gas and electricity on the same bill for what I've used from BG!! No wonder my head is spinning, not least as after confirming by email that they've received my latest meter readings for gas and electricity they've used an estimated reading for gas on the bill that is 60 units too high while using the correct electricity reading.
As soon as I've sorted this out I'm going elsewhere,I've been spoiled by decades of hassle-free utility companies until now.

Latest episode. I discovered that for some reason ,despite me having an email confirming that BG had received my latest meter readings, and what they were, my bill was made up with an estimated gas bill with 60 added units. I spoke to one of their agents via webchat who quickly sorted that. I mentioned my other problem and said "Oscar" had failed to call me with a resolution as promised. Guy went away and said he'd contacted Oscar asking him to contact me within the hour.............he didn't.
    And so it goes on........
