British Gas took over my Ebico electricity account - my credit balance is missing
My final Ebico bill shows £92.02 of my credit balance transferred "British Gas Migration Reconciliation - DD - 11 Nov 2020". BG says it is waiting on the Administrator. The transfer was over 2 months ago. Is anyone else in this situation of waiting for their credit balance to appear? What is going on?

I never got a final bill - however I owed them money so I am not chasing the issue - this is the advantage of paying by variable direct debit & only paying for what you owe in arrears2

Took BG three attempts to get mine ( RHood) rightAny posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.2

I would imagine that this is nothing more than a paper exercise which doesn’t sit high on an Administrator’s list of Things to Do given that all assets of a failed company are retained to pay all creditors which includes the credit balances of unsecured energy customers. Under the Ofgem Industry Levy, the SoLR will honour all credit balances and then seek repayment from Ofgem. Clearly, both the SoLR and Ofgem will want to make sure that credit balances are accurate before adding them to accounts. Failed suppliers are not noted for having good financial records. Prior to the introduction of the Industry Levy, your credit balance would probably have been worth pence in the £ or nothing at all.soundgeek said:My final Ebico bill shows £92.02 of my credit balance transferred "British Gas Migration Reconciliation - DD - 11 Nov 2020". Have you had your first bill yet from British Gas? That was when the credit appeared on my bill but mine was nowhere near as high as yours.0

What is going on?The clean-up team at Ebico sent me a screenshot of their transfer to "British Gas migration reconcilliation DD", so this record, at least, looks good.I've decided to suspend my D/D with BG until my balance is sorted out & I have told them why via resolver.co.uk.0 -

I pursued the complaint via Resolver.co.uk. Eventually BG sent me a cheque for the missing balance.

just had a big debit balance added to my BG account which I assume is BG collecting money they think is owed on behalf of Ebico which stinks to be honest - cant see how it can be legal for that to happen
Not only that the debit is way too much by over £200 - I have had to manually calculate what i really owe as ebico never sent a final bill0 -
I was told just before Christmas that I owed them over £640 after a massively inflated final bill. I called Ebico who agreed with me that with my very small utility usage,we're talking a couple of hundred pounds a year,it was obviously very wrong but I'd have to talk to BG about it as Ebico couldn't do anything by then. Very helpful chap at BG agreed with me again and said he'd have to contact Ebico (!!) to get a block put on the bill and a more sensible one sent out.Inigo_Montoya said:just had a big debit balance added to my BG account which I assume is BG collecting money they think is owed on behalf of Ebico which stinks to be honest - cant see how it can be legal for that to happen

Job done....until this evening when an e-mail from BG informed me that they'd be collecting £642 that I "owed" Ebico. Not happy is putting it mildly, not least as Ebico was supposedly a budget provider for low users. From reviews online I'm far from the only person but my supposed debt seems the highest I can find so far. Incidentally BG's website queried my meter readings as they're so low, that's because i'm rarely at home and use very little, which is exactly what I told the guy when I queried my final bill,at that time he had access to my Ebico records so could see I wasn't making it up.1 -
Had a fun few hours trying to sort my issue out :dave8204 said:

1) tried contacting by phone - completely useless, didnt get anywhere
2) tried web chat - the guy seemed fairly competant & promised a reply by email this evening which has not materialised - asked quite a few times to open a complaint but kep fobbing me off saying it wasnt necessary
3) opened up a resolver complaint which was the easiest way to detail the quite complicated issue
I may have to write a physical letter if I can't get things sorted out any other way
Quite a threads on this forums about ways to get redress
I suspect lots of people have got the email you mentioned, ,myself included, so BG are going to get a flood of complaints1
