As others have already pointed out there are several options but I would suggest at least considering getting a proper system from the likes of Age UK etc.

Anything like a radio system is ok whilst you are at home 500m away but are you going to ensure there is someone there 24/7? An autodialler type thing is better because then at least it can phone a mobile but there is always the risk you dont hear it ringing, the phones engaged or the battery is dead etc.

A professionally monitored system will be looked at 24/7 and no risk of an engaged line etc. These days the often also offer fall alarms which are triggered if they detect a fall and the alarms not turned off. My gran had a stroke and fell out of bed having left her panic button on the bedside table. She was on the floor for almost 24 hours before my aunt went round to check on her as she hadn't answered her phone all day. Had she been wearing a fall alarm help would have been summoned after 60 seconds and earlier medical treatment may have reduced the impact of the stroke which left her unable to walk and barely able to speak for the remaining months of her life.
This is the best option but the problem is the person having it around neck or on wrist, my father hated it when we got him one and chucked it in the drawer disgusted that we thought he needed help....at 85
My mother was the same, it spent more time in the drawer than on her, and as for professionally monitored system that turned out to be useless when she did need it in middle of the night, she had to lie in a soiled bedding on the floor all night until her normal carer arrived mid morning
The "professionals" did answer but said there was nothing they could [or willing] do

Gran was the same until she turned 90 and had a fall but whilst no injuries she was on the floor for a couple of hours and was finally convinced to take the thing out of the draw. Unfortunately fall detection devices didnt exist back then and so it didnt help after her stroke.

Before that though there were one or two occasions she used it.. the later ones though we thought was because she liked the young lad they sent round... she may have been 92 at the time but she never stopped liking guys with brown curly hair.
