Is there any emergency alert pager (like the old BT easy reach) to raise help for a OAP?
family lives only 500mtrs away so even a radio panic button might work
thanks

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Depending on requirements would a cheap mobile with a SOS button be suitable?Just carry it around in a pocketPressing button dials whoever is programmed in and recorded message lets them know help is requiredThe problem I found with likes of pagers etc is they require an ongoing contract and list of contactsSearch on mobile phone with sos button for elderly

What about this - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Doro-Unlocked-Seniors-Display-Emergency/dp/B075JGQ78B/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=Doro+Mobile+Phones+for+The+Elderly&qid=1612025741&sr=8-3 or something similar with a cheap paygo simNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0

You will however have to ensure that a chargeable call is made however often is required to keep the sim active.matelodave said:What about this - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Doro-Unlocked-Seniors-Display-Emergency/dp/B075JGQ78B/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=Doro+Mobile+Phones+for+The+Elderly&qid=1612025741&sr=8-3 or something similar with a cheap paygo sim
My backup / emergency phone on an O2 PAYG deal only needs one chargeable event every six months. However it is vital that this happens.0 -

As others have already pointed out there are several options but I would suggest at least considering getting a proper system from the likes of Age UK etc.
Anything like a radio system is ok whilst you are at home 500m away but are you going to ensure there is someone there 24/7? An autodialler type thing is better because then at least it can phone a mobile but there is always the risk you dont hear it ringing, the phones engaged or the battery is dead etc.
A professionally monitored system will be looked at 24/7 and no risk of an engaged line etc. These days the often also offer fall alarms which are triggered if they detect a fall and the alarms not turned off. My gran had a stroke and fell out of bed having left her panic button on the bedside table. She was on the floor for almost 24 hours before my aunt went round to check on her as she hadn't answered her phone all day. Had she been wearing a fall alarm help would have been summoned after 60 seconds and earlier medical treatment may have reduced the impact of the stroke which left her unable to walk and barely able to speak for the remaining months of her life.0 -
This is the best option but the problem is the person having it around neck or on wrist, my father hated it when we got him one and chucked it in the drawer disgusted that we thought he needed help....at 85Sandtree said:As others have already pointed out there are several options but I would suggest at least considering getting a proper system from the likes of Age UK etc.
