Can I add more to my credit card than the limit?

I owe a payment of £550 and need to pay by card and wish to do so with my barclaycard cc. The Limit on the barclaycard cc is £250, so Can I make a transfer to the cc of £550 even though the limit on it is £250? Earlier I owed £69.99 to the cc and when trying to enter £70, a message came up in red telling me it can't be in credit.

You can on some cards, but it may be blocked and at worst, your account closed as it's a breach of terms.
It sounds as it Barclaycard have blocked it, but I wouldn't try it even if they hadn't, given the current twitchiness around money laundering and account mis-use.

Any other suggestions mate? I have a balance transfer card to pay off a purchase that is coming to end of interest free period, and seems only way I can pay is by bank account or in full. Only way I can pay in full is by doing what I asked in op0

No you can't do this, the fact you already tried to put the card into a positive balance and was rebuffed is proof of this.1

You can put a card in credit but it's against the terms and conditions. Usually the easiest way to do this is via a Bank transfer Payment. I have two examples where i've done this before:
- I made a payment over 3x the limit without speaking to the card provider first (The card was blocked for a short period and i had to speak to the 'Fraud' team) - Aqua
-I made a payment of over 2x the limit, I was advised by the customer service agent to do this (nothing happened ) - AmEx1 -
I tried to pay my Barclaycard's full balance one day as I wanted to make another purchase with it the following day and it was at its max.I wasn't able to pay the full balance as the most recent payment hadn't cleared so had to pay less - they certainly wouldn't let my account go into credit1

It may be easier if you state what the different accounts are, their balances and what you are trying to achieve.PJC88 said:Any other suggestions mate? It sounds like you owe £550 on card A, you have a BT limit of £250 on card B with Barclays and presumably an offer, and you have £300 or more in cash.
Why not pay the £300 off of card A and then BT the £250 to card B rather than trying to get B to a credit balance of £300 and then transferring all £550 to B?2 -
I had a balance transfer offer. I owe £528 on a purchase from last year, the 0% runs out in march. The payment can be made from my bank account, but not with balance transfer card. I can only make the full payment, so, it wasn't possible to pay £250 with the barclaycard then transfer to barc from my offer card, then pay another 250 then finally the 28.Sandtree said:

you can reduce the £528 to £250 by paying from your bank account. Once at £250 then bt.1
