Depends which normal one you're referring to and what your call plan is, but geographic numbers (typically 01x/02x) are usually published for use outside the UK as non-geographic ones (03x/08x, etc) used not to work when called from elsewhere. They'll often be included in call plans from telcos but if charged would typically cost the same as 03x numbers, but freephone 0800/0808 numbers will generally be completely free....Uni_Student72 said:I want to call them up but I'm confused with the number they have given me. Their Twitter account gave me this number - 01733 347 007 - however, this appears to be their number for when calling from outside of the UK. Why have they given me this number? Does it cost more than their normal one?0 -
The normal one that I'm referring to is the one on their website (0345 602 1997). Is there a reason why they have been their abroad number?eskbanker said:

What did they say when you asked them?Uni_Student72 said:

I called them. They basically said to wait a bit longer or visit a branch. I can't really visit a branch right now so I guess I'll just have to wait.
Does anyone know what will eventually happen if I continue to wait and dn't hear anything back?0 -
They also said that an application pack had been mailed out to me so unless something turns up in the next few days, something has clearly gone wrong. They didn't seem that bothered that something might have gone wrong.0

It really doesn't matter why the Twitter contact gave you that number. Probably easier to just always use the 01 than asking where some is located. If you are in the UK costs to call 01, 02 and 03 numbers are usually all the same anyway.Uni_Student72 said:

There is a pandemic, staff are working from home, Royal Mail have mass sickness so post is delayed. Waiting two calendar weeks doesn't seem too bad in current circumstances.0 -
I understand there is a pandemic however I have no confirmation they even received my ID and selfie. Hearing nothing for 2 weeks with absolutely no confirmation about anything is poor. I have had no delays from any other company when using Royal Mail. The problems with Royal Mail seem to be specific to certain areas.jon81uk said:

Not OP but what do you mean about the application dropping off?Retiredwelshman said:
Not if you want a quick resolution. You could wait 30 days for the application to drop off and then start again - but that would involve another search.Uni_Student72 said:
I could but I'd rather not if it isn't necessary. Do you think this could be done over the phone?Retiredwelshman said:Are you able to visit a branch at all?
If you can, take your ID and e-mail application reference - to see if they can locate it. They may be able to process your ID there and then or they will tell you if the application is rejected.0 -
If you're finding this level of service poor, please don't ever try to deal with HSBC.Uni_Student72 said:I understand there is a pandemic however I have no confirmation they even received my ID and selfie.
