Is there a site that I can view all my bank balances?

Options
and is it advisable?
I spend a good hour when I want to check balances/pay bills etc on all my accounts.

    There are several.

Ewise (https://www.ewise.com.au) is one or there is the egg money manager (https://new.egg.com/customer/youraccounts) based in ewise if you have an egg account. First Direct Plus (https://internetbankingplus2.firstdirect.com/ibplus/homePage_10.jsp) is another that also uses ewise and you dont need a first direct account to use it.

The login information is stored on your PC rather than online so you are unlikely to get 'hacked' (for want of a better description). I have been using a combination of the above for years with no problems now.

I use the Egg Money Manager (particularly worthwhile when they're running an incentive scheme).

I think it's absolutely magic if you've got your own computer - it stores all your information safely, so you only need your made-up password and security question to access all accounts.

It also tots them up so you can see your overall balance.

Many other people use the Egg Money Manager?

Currently using spreadsheet and diligence to track my balances over a few accounts, but this sounds like a step forward. Have had an Egg account for years but always been suspicious of this in the past.

Any catches that anyone knows of? Does it give Egg marketing people a profile of what other financial accounts you have?

I use Egg Money Manager and find it excellent. However one thing does concern me if one of the accounts registered with Egg was hacked into would I be able to claim that money back. I had a conversation a while ago with Smile and they said they do not recommend using a money manager.

just be careful about fraud.as some banks won't pay out if it happens to ur acc and all ur details are stored on a central system like FD Egg etc.

When I worked at smile we didn't support those programmes as all bank details are stored n one place
  • But then these 'digital safes' are encripted as I have found out twice to my cost when inputting incorrect passwords one time too many. FD were not able to help so I had to reset up again from scratch.

I also wonder just how smile would be aware that you used an account aggregator anyway, unless you told them.

Perhaps someone technically in the know might explain how FD for example can enable you to log in to smile without some sort of co-operation from the latter. Certainly, when smile changed their log in process a few weeks ago, the FD aggregator worked fine the following day, having been upgraded seemlessly to handle the change.

I've noticed that not every bank is included in the Egg Money Manager and wonder if this means I'm right to think that financial institutions have to volunteer someway to be included with the other banks on the system? If they dont volunteer I wonder how Egg a) decides which bank to include and b) gets away with programming other bank's log in systems into their system? I''d be interested to learn if anyone has followed up on any of this stuff.

It depends. But because you're allowing a third party (Egg) to access your online banking, you could be held liable for anything that happens as a result of that. However, if that was the case, Egg apparently guarantee the money, so you should be able to reclaim it from them. The real problem arises if you're a victim of fraud that isn't associated with an aggregator, but the bank still claims you have been negligent with your security information because you have been using the service. Under those circumstances you might have real difficulty getting the money back.

I have both egg mm and FD Internet banking plus on my PC. I haven't really bothered with the Egg version as I can get all I need from FD.

I like the fact that I can track my investments in interactive investor so I can see how my shares, Isa's etc are doing.

I also track my club card points, nectar points in FDIB and loans to the kids and work expenses by adding them as "other things I own"

I have used it since it started and I have never had any problems but I only use it on my own PC I wouldn't use it on my work PC.
