Not sure where the totals figure is coming from, or the 31 days for that matter.3littlegems said:Ok so the first reading i have for last year was March Gas 15102 and Electric 23637Todays meter reading is Gas 16378 and Electric 28736
Electric - 608kwh@ 15.71p/kwh Standing charge 31 days @ 19.34 p/day
Gas -2491 kwh@ 2.80 p/kwh Standing charge 31 days @ 19.47 p/day
And just as an extra Decembers readings were Gas 15981, Electric 27704
Thank you for taking the time to do this.
If that is 10 months then the gas figure of 1276 should be multiplied by approx 11.2, giving a much more credible 14290 kWh. Those 10 months will be costing more like £460 for gas and £860 for electric. You’ve not said if those figures include VAT @ 5%. As has been calculated before, £130 / month should just about be covering the stated usage, depending on VAT0 -
So looking at your figures you've provided for 11 months I've worked out your usage for a year will be approximately
Elec: 5562kwh
Gas: 15816kwh
So annual consumption is
Elec: 5562 x 0.1571 = £873.79
Sc: 0.1934 x 365= £70.59
Gas: 15816 x 0.028 = £442.84
Sc: 0.1947 x 365 = £71.07
So your annual bill is the total of all 4, which is £1458.29, So you should be paying £121.52 a month to cover your usage. If you have to add vat to that its approx £127.60
Hope that helps.
(Note that you haven't given us the date the meter reading was taken in March. I have assumed its beginning of March, but if its end of march your usage will be higher, assuming your readings are 10 months apart would make your annual consumption estimate at 6118kwh elec and 17396kwh gas, giving you a monthly payment if £132.50 - so it looks like bulb have been reasonable with your projections)

Op. Now you have actual usage with thanks to the above posters, now would be a good time to check if you can get better/cheaper deals by comparing through: Compare Gas and Electricity suppliers - Which? Switch
And also through: Compare Gas & Electricity Prices - Citizens Advice Energy Comparison
Just click on the links to see if you can save money.
Takes a few minutes to do especially as you now have updated actual yearly usage to input. The world is not ruined by the wickedness of the wicked, but by the weakness of the good. Napoleon1 -
Gas consumption is fine, but electricity is very high. Probably an immersion heater in use, or plug in heaters or a towel rail or underfloor heating somewhere. Lots of scope for cost cutting there.0

5562 kWh per annum equates to around 15 kWh each day. For an eight person household required to be at home all day for nearly a year, I don’t think is overly excessive. I’ve noticed my own consumption increase during this period. No doubt reductions are possible but I don’t think there is huge overspendGerry1 said:Gas consumption is fine, but electricity is very high. Perhaps, but I'd expect most of the extra consumption to be reflected in the gas figure, not electricity. All the extra room heating and hot water shouldn't increase the electricity consumption by a noticeable amount.0

It wouldn't be hard to get to that sort of electricity consumption with additional lighting (if not all LED), TV/computers on most of the day, additional food prep., fridge/freezer door being opened more often etc.Gerry1 said:Perhaps, but I'd expect most of the extra consumption to be reflected in the gas figure, not electricity. Apologies i didnt include the vat @ 5%. Gas was £3.79 and Electric was £5.080 -

The March statement was from the 7th.
So going forward could i use these figures 6118kwh elec and 17396kwh gas to enter into a comparison site?
Bulb are suggesting i pay as a minimum £146.64 or £159.60 based on my consumption, so would that means the kw should be higher ? What kw of usage am i looking at to get the figure of £159.60.

No immersion heater, plug in heaters, towel rail or underfloor heating. However there are multiple tablets phones and computers in constant use. This wouldn't be the case if we weren't in a lockdown. Electric oven on daily washing machine twice if not more and a tumble dryer once every other day.Gerry1 said:Gas consumption is fine, but electricity is very high.
