Adding a quote to a post

I used to be able to add a quote in a post by using the [quote] and [/quote] tags but doesn't seem to work these days and help for using the forum seems non-existent or well hidden.
Anyone, please, know how to add a quote in a post these days?

Alternatively, just click on the 'quote' option that appears on the bottom left of the post you want to quote, and the text will appear at the top of your comment box, where you can edit it if you wish.
