From claiming benefits to starting a business

I'm trying to work out what will happen to our benefits but it feels like we have a slightly complex setup.
I work part time and my wife doesn't work.
We receive child benefit, work and child tax credit, and pip for my partner.
We wish to better ourselves and realistically that would be to start a business for my wife to work on and perhaps myself too.
It is likely to be a limited company, we feel more comfortable with lower personal risk, and it is likely we would need to reinvest into the company with equipment as it begins to get it established.
This feels like we would need to give up the means tested benefits and lower our income to be able to have the company earn money and invest it on itself, which isn't bettering outlselves in the short term and actually would be near infeasible. That said I have seen companies are their own entity and you can be a director that doesn't draw a wage or dividend. If that is the case would the benefits be unaffected and the company keeps any profit and pays the tax?
I don't want to have my cake and eat it. We are doing this to take less. Its just how it reads when I research but it doesn't feel right.
Any advice would be appreciated. I understand I will need to run this by an accountant/professionals. Hoping to get an idea early of what we are getting into if anyone has relevant experiences.
