flapflop said:Hi all, I owe a big apology for my absence but I have been working on something big and am pleased to say that I received a promotion today with a whopping pay rise. I will work out my new budget soon but needless to say I should have an extra £400 per month to throw at the debt

Hello everyone. Apologies for being so absent. Between having terrible news and amazing news I rather let things get the better of me and slipped into old spending habits. Not terribly, I have still made progress but I have definitely not been as on the ball as I should have been. Everything has calmed down a bit now and I am ready to start taking back control. I've not been able to sell much recently so I instead need to focus on saving the pennies. Even with the pay rise, I still want to cut back on spending. I have signed up to be a OLIO food hero and I really need to get into the freezer and take a stock count. As someone mentioned here, there is probably £££ worth of food hidden in there underneath the three turkeys that I got at Easter.
Right now, I am going to use up some veg in the fridge and make a risotto.

Thanks @remote_control. Its good to be back.
What does today have planned? Well it's peeing down so it will be indoor activities today. We have washing to be put away and other household chores. 😤 I feel like baking but if I bake I'll also eat it which I don't want to do.
Breakfast was beans on toast. Dinner will be pie and chips. I'd bought them yesterday before I decided that I was going to go back to saving the pennies. I might try and tackle the freezer and move food from the deep freeze to the everyday fridge freezer so there is less of an excuse for not eating what we have. We have some fruit which is heading past its best so I will find something to do with that. Maybe a smoothie for lunch? I think I'll meal plan too. We have loads of pasta and rice and beans so a few veggie meals to start eating those up. I've cut back my portion sizes by 2/3 as we were eating far too much and we have a much healthier balance now. Trouble is that I still cook the extra 2/3. I'm not a big fan of leftovers so I need to cut back on the amount I'm cooking.
There is no reason for me to spend any money today so that is my goal.Total debt at peak 2021 = £38931

Monday. What needs doing today? I was going to head out to get a Colman's sachet for a tuna pasta bake but I have found a recipe which has most of the ingredients. That's 80p saved plus whatever else I would have bought on a whim. I must make myself breakfast. I've gained a 3 lbs recently and I'm sure it is because I'm down on my water intake and not eating breakfast. Although the Chinese, pie and chocolate probably don't help much. Nah, must be the lack of breakfast! Ah damn, I've just remembered that my son ate the last banana and we have no fruit left. Perhaps I will end up going out. That is a real pain in the buttocks.
Not much money to be made today but there is some to be saved. I can't really pay anything off my debts as we need the little we have left for food but as long as I get through the next two weeks without borrowing I will be able to pay off debts next month rather than paying off what was borrowed this month. I will choose to view that as progress!Total debt at peak 2021 = £38931
