Maximum Halifax Clarity credit card limit

We (wife and I) have a Halifax Clarity credit card with a £5000 limit that we've had for about three years. Always pay off the full balance, modest user, probably around £5000 or so a year. About to leap into buying lots of flooring and related kit for the house and plan to pay by credit card to get the protection that offers. Anyone got any idea what Halifax's maximum credit card limit is for a safe bet such as myself?
Any help appreciated!

You might as well ask how long is a piece of string. Only way to know is apply for a limit increase (assuming £5k is insufficient) and see what you’re offered.

Thanks - I feared that might be the answer. As far as I can tell, you have to ask for how much an increase you want. I guess I just put my best hope and see what happens........

If it helps, my limit on my Halifax Clarity is £9,000.  I've had it about 9 years.

You don't need to ask anyone. Just log into your online banking and try to increase the limit there. I did it with my Halifax card 2 months ago. Same with Barclaycard.

  • And if it is just the "protection" that you want -
use the card and, as long as you are not going over £5K for an individual purchase, you can make interim payments to the Clarity account to free up more credit for fresh spending.

It's probably irrelevant to you, but my Halifax Clarity limit was £9800 from day one. Opened in 2011.

  • I had a Halifax classic card for 20 years, started with £500, was up to £8850 at one point - all down to your credit file, debt situation, available credit etc

Credit card's can't be shared so it will be in one of your names and the other will simply be an additional card holder and have no responsibility on the account.

I've just had a look and when you request a limit they then ask you for your monthly income and mortgage/rent and then either offer you what you asked for or say the maximum. I got offered £15,000 but had the option to not go ahead and try again later if you just want to see what you could get first.
