Clarks best fit guarantee

Hi, I am looking for some expertise/advice. Last July I purchased a pair of school shoes for my son at Clark’s. I did so because of their best fit guarantee which says that if your child grows out of their shoes by a certain date, they will provide a replacement or refund. This was particularly relevant at the time as shops were trying to persuade customers back into shops. Usually I would wait until the end of August to buy new shoes so they would last the longest. My son grew out of his shoes before their deadline and I still have both the shoes and the receipt. However Clark’s say they will not honour the promise because shops are not open for a member of staff to check the shoes do not fit. They offer 30% off another pair of shoes instead. I do not feel this is right. Clark’s shoes are expensive and I feel a little tricked into buying them. Do I have any rights here? Can I get my replacement or refund? Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately, the guarantee states
- you have brought the Shoes into one of our stores and a fitter has agreed that the Shoes no longer fit your child or children; and
- the Shoes are returned instore before 30 November 2020 or 28 February 2021 (as applicable to the sizes).
