I'm needing advice for my elderly parents their neighbors have connected to electricity supply from their meter my parents supplier have informed us it is illegal to do this but will not put anything in writing

    Perhaps some more detail? The neighbours have actually connected cables to the electric meter?

    Where is the meter? In a communal cupboard?

    Abstraction of energy is a legal term used by OFGEM for the removal of energy before the meter. That CED definition is just one of many.

    OP, which side of the meter is it being taken from - must be after the meter or the supplier would be very interested so it is down to your parents to get it sorted.

    Thank you my fault. I looked up what the OP quoted in the title thread. Abstraction not Abstracting. But now see it from OFGEM  :)

    If it sticks, force it.
    If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

    The meter is situated in a barn then runs on a private over head line into property they have connected to a cut out box in loft

    Then get an electrician in to disconnect before the Bill's mount up.

    The farmer owns barn ,they are taking my parents to court for an injunction to stop them disconnecting them
