We are having a lovely time but youngest fractured his arm within an hour of being here so it's going to end up more spendy than I wished with him not being able to spend time playing in the sea or the river.
Unfortunately these things happen, first time either of mine have broken anything.

Extra time in arcades and maybe a boat trip or something to keep him busy without feeling like he's missing out. Thankfully he doesn't appear to be in too much pain and still has a smile on his face.

Will check in when we're home.

Thankfully we got through the holiday without too much extra spending, he managed a little play in the river with me at his side so he didn't stumble and his arm was kept nice and dry. A little extra was spent on take away teas and sweets for prizes so we could play in the caravan as well as some extra petrol with the extra 3 hours of driving to and from hospitals.

All in all money has been juggled to cover most and the rest will be covered out of personal spends on payday.

6 days until payday, should just about manage it comfortably, need to pick up 2 jumpers and a pair of PE trousers but all other uniform is sorted.

  • So sorry to hear about DS, but it sounds like it hasn't ruined his holiday which is the main thing! Well done on managing the money even with the unexpected. Great work on sorting uniforms and making it comfortably to payday!

Payday has finally arrived so the middle of the night money shuffle has been done ✅ bringing bank of mum to £3070 and very to £170.

Next month will bring me under the next thousand bracket which feels in touching distance now, the end is in sight.

Thanks @Sarahwithlove and @Aimingforthegoodlife for dropping in and making me feel like I'm not just talking to myself.

Interest has hit the chase account over night and I've moved it all to mums account and rounded it up so a £25 payment altogether. Bringing that total to 3020, don't want to raid another pot to round it up especially this early in the month but I'm hopeful that somewhere in the month something will come in under budget and I'll have it to transfer. Slowly but surely I'm getting there.

Last day of the holidays for me, a busy week ahead in school transfering info to high schools and meeting new families.

That's great about the loan from your mum being almost gone. It's a nice feeling once a debt is gone.

I managed to not spend all of my weekly spends on my weekend trip so have cash to manage on this week. Because of this I'm doing well with the budget (that and being back at work) so I've transferred £20 of this week's spends to mum so a nice round £3000 now.

Hopefully next week will be the same and I can keep chipping away.

Feeling really tired this weekend, I've had an emotional week and have finally had my ADHD assessment which led to a diagnosis. It's given me a lot too reflect on and it has been tiring. This weekend will be about self care and reigning in my spending I have £80 to last me 9 days and will need to fill the car up. Hubby is having car trouble so will need to use mine this week, logistically it works better that way.

Hopefully I'll move up a pay scale in work this year and we'll get a pay rise which will arrive in December but be back dated. That is all positive for my savings. Still on track to be completely debt free by Christmas.

Then next year's focus will be building a healthy emergency fund to stop me ever needing credit again. I would like to be in a position to help the kids to get through uni or have a deposit for their own place which seems ages away but will need planning. As in reality it is 6 years or 72 paydays away.

At the moment my hyper focus is money which is a good thing as I'm constantly tweaking my plans to figure out the best way to achieve the figures I want to. This is helping stop impulsive spending. For a long time I have stopped myself buying anything online if I haven't had it in my basket for 24 hours which has helped massively in reducing my debt. I still shop impulsively at shops but avoid them unless I have to go.

Thankful for everyone's threads helping keep me focused and on track

Managed to reign the budget in somewhat and should make it to the weekend with enough in personal spends to take the kids to the cinema. If I can make it to Monday without dipping in to any pots that will be great. I then get my next pot of personal spends which only needs to last for 5 days which I'm in work for so should have some of next week's personal spends to pay off or add to the car pot which is quite low at the moment.

Next month we have a holiday right at the end so will need to be extra careful with personal spends to have some extra left for holiday spends.
