    Hi Sammy
My subscription to Nord just ran out. Not sure I'll need it again, especially as I'm now using Prime & Netfix, turning it on & off all the time is a bit of a pain. Never tried those extra addons you mention.
Nord is not free of course but the longer you subscribe, the better the value.
    Regards

  • Why not try NordVPN? I think Nord is better than Surfshark, although, on a 2 year plan, Surfshark is cheaper so there’s that. Nord is a top rated vpn, with most reviewers considering them either a second plan or first place world wide. They are very easy to use and will work for anyone, beginner or advanced user. Plenty of servers, actually the most anyone has in the field. Great speed, great gaming vpn, probably the fastest vpn for torrenting, the best vpn outside 14 eyes. You can try them out for a month by paying a few bucks and you’ll see.

I used Nord in the past, I still have it as I had a five year deal that was incredibly cheap, I used it in the past for work, where I needed to access websites whilst appearing in different countries to view things which were set up specifically different geographical locations.

Depending on usage I have found it also has the advantage of obfuscated servers, which for example would allow you to appear in the UK to iPlayer which will not normally work abroad or over a VPN, it seems fairly fast, with limited slowdown I have heard others experienced. In technical and consumer ratings Nord seems to always come in the top three, usually 1st or 2nd. In most cases, for most people's usage any one of the top few will be more than adequate so it will come down to personal choice.
  • it does all depend on what you want the vpn for. i use surfshark in the uk but was disappointed when travelling to spain that ii could not access BBC iPlayer.

These threads are somewhat pointless in that people will only recommend what they are using. Whether that means the recommendation is any good for the OP or, whoever, is very subjective.
Best advice is to get as many free trials as possible, weigh up experience with budget and go with it...
Personally, I use Cyberghost, don't know if it's worse or better than anything, but it works for me, is fast, secure and well within my budget.....

You can set up a vpn server at home to access iplayer from abroad via your own Internet service.  There are many "how to" guides on the web. No need to buy a vpn service just to pretend to be at home.  Raspberry pi is a cheap option or some router firmware has the server built in.
