**EDIT: Extended - 1st Feb also for 24 hours only**

Green.Energy users check your email for this offer of 10% extra credit for any top up on Monday 25th Jan:

https://green.energy/green-monday-terms

I've looked hard to see if there are any maximums to this credit amount but doesn't appear to be. What's the risk of dropping say a £1000 on a top up to get £100 of free energy?

There is a risk that they put their prices up again but I'm free to leave without exit fees, just wondering if there would be any risk to the bonus credit if I leave before I've used it?

Just as an aside, they have recently put their prices up, I'm on the Oak tariff and even running the increased prices through comparison checkers I'm still not finding a better dual fuel deal for my usage levels unless I go for an unrated / non green supplier with hefty exit fees that negate the saving (Utility Point / Simplicity Energy) - would save about £100.

    I just had a quick glance :D
1.8 Offer: Calculated by retrieving 10% of the Top Up Amount or £500 whichever is the lesser amount, and adding this to the Top Up Amount.

Thanks, that has actually changed since I screen grabbed the offer an hour ago! They must have had some enquiries about it.

    An hour later!

So the limit appears to be £5000 top up for £500 bonus. I'll re-read the terms again in the morning when I do my top up to see if anything else has changed.

The terms and conditions can be found here, but I suspect if you try to use this as a quick way to get 10% on any amount of money they won't honour it if you ask for a refund of the same amount later (see 2.6).

  • Omg another new clause. It stopped at 2.4 on my original screen shot! Maybe they are reading this thread!
  • Are they suggesting that if you leave before you expend your credit the offer is void? Or at any point in time?

And why are they doing this? Are they struggling for a cash balance? Do you want to put that much into a company that wants cash quick? And can give them a bit more support if they decide to hike the prices a bit more than normal.

I'm going to aim for 3 months, would probably do more but my deal is good and expires at that point.

I wouldn't get too excited, we're talking a few tens of pounds.

Yes, that's what I'm trying to figure out, I don't think it is clear in the terms, certainly not a well thought through offer, I'll go on chat tomorrow to ask but I'm working on worst case that the bonus is forfeited if not spent.

Yes, sounds like a year end accounting exercise to get some extra cash in at a time when most people are probably in debit due to the winter bills. I assume all my money is protected regardless although it might be a pain to get it back if they do go under.

Yes, I think I'll do the same, I've got about £300 debit when this months bill comes so I'll cover that and the next 3 or 4 months so about £600 top up.

I am excited about £60 for free though!

Just had confirmation in a chat with Green that these figures are correct.

Has anyone managed to make a top-up? The app doesn't have it available due to maintenance, and trying on a PC it just spun on the timer.

Their traiffs have jumped quite a lot lately; I suspect that this is an attempt to reduce the exodus of customers reaching the end of the Ampere Tariff . I'm certainly on the way out as the renewal offer was an increase of 35% pa

Could it be a sign they have a cash liquidity problem and this is a way of getting over it?
