Speeding fine
Can anyone tell me what the penalty for doing 50 in a 70. My daughter was travelling from London and didn't realise it had dropped to 50. She already has 6 points from 2018 both on the same day. She travels alot to London and I know she shouldn't be speeding but its not always obvious what the limit is as they change sometimes. Thanks.

It should be another 3 points and a £100 fine (plus a victim's surcharge which I think is about £15) but to be honest, with 9 points on her licence, it's the hike in insurance costs that should be more of a worry than the £100 fine.I have to disagree. Whenever the limit changes there are always signs showing the new limit.di41 said:She travels alot to London and I know she shouldn't be speeding but its not always obvious what the limit is as they change sometimes. I read somewhere that it was 4-6 points and a possible 28 day ban ! Because she was 20 over but not sure.DiddyDavies said:It should be another 3 points and a £100 fine (plus a victim's surcharge which I think is about £15) but to be honest, with 9 points on her licence, it's the hike in insurance costs that should be more of a worry than the £100 fine.I have to disagree. There is no penalty for doing 50 in a 70.
For doing 70 in a 50, though...
Too fast for a course, unfortunately, since it sounds like she'd benefit from it.
Not fast enough for court.
£100, 3pt fixed penalty.
Time for her to drive VERY carefully until her other points fall off some point this year - 12 pts is a totting ban.0 -
Sorry mis worded it its 70 ina 500

That would only be applicable if it went to court, which it won't unless your daughter refuses the fixed penalty that will be offered. In a 50 a fixed penalty will be offered up to 75.di41 said:

That only says to 64mph an offer of the course which I knew she wouldn't get what happens after 64mph !AdrianC said:There is no penalty for doing 50 in a 70.

Between 65mph and 75mph it's generally the offer of accepting a fixed penalty and then from 76mph it's always off to court.di41 said:

Blue column. Fixed penalty (if no course) above 57mph. (Below 57mph, no action.)di41 said:
