5G Access with BT Halo

Please can anyone help? I have a 5G capable mobile (Google Pixel 4a 5G). My mobile provider is BT, with a BT Halo package comprisng home broadband and mobile phone. According to the coverage maps (I'm outer London), I should have a 5G signal. But I have never seen the 5G icon light up on my phone, and the mobile data connection shows 4G..
I'm guessing that BT have to enable 5G for me somehow - but the BT webpage help is totally opaque. Please does anyone know that I have to do to get 5G with this phone and package?

5G coverage is very localised, you can get it in one street and not the next. Have you checked a few times in a few areas?1

This 100%. I can get 5G in the local supermarket car park, but 10 metres away I cannot. 5G is VERY localised and the network is still in it's infancy.jon81uk said:5G coverage is very localised, you can get it in one street and not the next. Now fixed - with an MSE twist! I finally got through to BT who said they will turn on 5G for me, with no new SIM or phone changes. They also said 5G is NOT available in my postcode (like other posters said!) - despire coverage maps suggesting it was.. Not an issue at home as I use WiFi.Then the BONUS - they reduced my mobile plan by £3 a month, and reduced my home broadband (BT Halo) by £6 a month - with no change to service levels . It pays to talk,... sometimes !1
