Why has the Furlough Scheme been updated?

Before lockdown 2.0 the furlough scheme was updated to cover people who had been employed up to 30th October. I started a new job in December after lockdown 2.0 and my employer has said they cannot claim furlough for me because the rules haven’t been updated ....
I was confident that maybe this was just something that would take a week or so to get updated but it seems this isn’t the case??

What happens for people who were employed during December before lockdown 3.0 - is it likely the government will change the rule to be employment before end of December for eligibility?
thanks

Same happened to me... basically universal credit or new style jobseekers if you're out of work...Debt Free as of December 2020 👏
