Sky contract and moving house

I’m moving out of my house next week and am with Sky but not in a fixed contract.
I’m having to move in with family temporarily until my new house is ready so I phoned to cancel Sky.
They told me that rather than cancelling they can get my tv bill down to £25 month if I sign to an 18 month contract and when I do move into my new house they can set me up without any installation costs and it means it will be cheaper. Where as if I cancel I’ll have to pay installation costs if I sign up as a new customer.
I’m not sure if this is a good idea or they are selling me this idea to fix me in for another 18 months.
Does anyone have any knowledge around this or can give any advice on whether I should cancel or fix in?

Well its pointless paying £25 for something you can't watch...  Yes there is Sky Go but if your relations also have Sky its pointless you paying for it as well.

What will it cost to sign up as a new customer in the new house and how long before move .
Do they mean continue £25 pm now or from new house move date .

They’re saying pay £25 month even for the time I can’t use it but when I move to my new house it can then be set up free with no installation cost where as if I cancel and set up as new once I’m in a new house I’ll have a set up fee of about £60. So they’re saying if I’m in temp housing for less than a month it’s cheaper not to cancel.

Cunning way of locking you into a new 18m contract. If the gap ends up as 2m, it'll only be a tenner saving.

If the set up fee is £50 and it takes you two months before you move in then you'll pay £50 for summat you cant use but you'd be no worse off however if it was longer then you'd be lashing out even more
    .
Personally I'd wait until I knew when my actual moving date was before I contemplated taking out a new deal. Quite often new subscribers get a better deal than an upgrade. But thats just my opinion

New home:   New 'new build' or older but 'new to you'?
New:  Are dishes permitted by the developer?
Older: Is there a dish already?

Dish installs by $ky may not be happening as fast as in 'normal times' during Covid lockdown, so you may be waiting a while in the new place;  all the time paying for something you can't have the use of.

NB the same time delay issue applies to a broadband installation at the new home.
