Incorrectly charged £751.50 early cancellation fee

Hi everybody,
I got a phone contract through 'Mobile Phones Direct' (MPD) in December. It was a contact with o2 and the signal at my home was awful, so I returned it as per the returns process within 14 days to MPD. This return was accepted by MPD and I got the texts etc to say it was accepted and I wouldn't be charged any further. Then, mid Jan, I got a £750.50 charge from o2 for early cancellation. They say it is because mobile phones direct haven't informed them of the return. O2 claim no responsibility or ability to help as its mobile phones directs fault, and mobile phone direct are saying they are looking into it but it's been over a week now without my money.
I've called them every day and am putting it on twitter every day but feel like I'm getting nowhere so far.

Is there anything else I can do here? Further escallation/legal action or anything similar?

    Find the email address of the CEO/MD and get writing an email outlining the situation.

    No point in calling and tweeting if this does not seem to get any results with the staff at the lower levels. Ultimately this is their problem and error, and you should be placing the ball in their court.
    All dealers will have a bunch of people at the back office of the network that will be able to rectify such issues, and for cancellations within the cooling off period should not elicit large termination fees for the subscriber if done correctly.

    Ps. I don't know why the email website for ceos is a banned url on this forum?
