  • First thing I would do is check if any of the 50 pence coins are 'rare'.

I've got a Roger Bannister 50p coin, valued from 50p to whatever someone will pay me for it.
  • My Dad used to put all his small change ,
Threepenny bits and under in a sock and every Christmas Day my sister and I got it all. It was treasure! Perhaps you could try something similar, maybe for a charity
  • I use the terramundi pots I took £968 in £2 coins to Barclays without a problem. It was harder to acquire enough money bags.
My second pot is taking much longer having used very little cash in the last year.
I also have a 3ltr Brandy bottle filled with 20p, again it's taking ages, only really have the neck to fill but I think last count was over £400, I need to start stockpiling money bags so I'm more prepared when paying in.

I think as long as you don't take it in 5 minutes before closing time or a really busy time the staff don't seem to mind
    Make £2023 in 2023 (#36) £3479.30/£2023

    Make £2024 in 2024...

    I use the terramundi pots
Aren't those the ones you have to 'break' in some way to get the money out?

Metro bank and some branches of HSBC have coin counting machines that will deposit the money into your account.
    And some NatWests.
With Cheltenhams NatWest you have to take a receipt from the coin counter machine to a cashiers desk. I reckon I'm going to be close on £600 in my demijohn once I can hit the bank.
I’d do that in stages. The last time I overloaded the machine it had a hissy fit, spat all my money out and shut down. I had to scoop it back into my bag and take it home again. Counter wouldn’t accept it as it wasn’t bagged up. So much for a helpful bank.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
