Virgin Price Increase

Hi
Just had a letter from Virgin increasing my Braodband, Phone and TV package by £3.50/mnth.
In Martin advice on this he stated it did not affect contract post 29/6/20, my contract was taken out 29/6/20.
I have been in contact with virgin and they said that they have been informed by Virgin that anyone who gets the letter the increase will apply.
Not sure where Martin was able to get his info from but Virgin are firmly sticking to their stance.
They did offer to cut my TV and Phone package so only a broadband service and my cost would stay the same on anew 18 month contract.

As a general rule if you post date a cheque for example its normally for after today's date. So it may be that if you took your contract out on the 30th you'd have been fine, but the 29th is not post.

I've had the same letter. My contract was taken out on 21/9/2020 and she clearly stated that there would be no price increase for the full 18 months (phone call recorded).
Phoned VM yesterday and she said 'yes we are in breach of contract so we are letting you leave without charge', but she couldn't honour the contract price agreement.
Technically this is in line with Ofcom rules but it allows VM to lie when you negotiate a contract.
The Ofcom rules are one sided - I couldn't tell VM them that I was reducing my payments from next month and they could cancel my contract if they wanted - they would charge an exit fee.
I encourage everyone to complain to Ofcom like me.
