If they fail at MOT, are they the ones that blind you when driving behind you? If so good enough for the !!!!!!.

retrofitting is not worth it, get some fancy halogen bulbs like the nightbreakers for a boost in visibility. if you want true HID then look for it as a feature on your next car.
I have a 2002 golf, some of the top of the range ones came with factory HID lights, but these are such rare marques you're looking at £500+ for OEM ones. You can get aftermarket ones and do a proper conversion but that requires ballasts and other things changed and some people reported odd electrical issues popping up elsewhere.

A good quality HID kit (with CANBUS support etc) can work, I have a Stealth one and it's fine - in a projector headlamp. This aspect is critical, otherwise light can scatter and blind other drivers. Needs to be assessed properly.

My car is an Auris hybrid 2010.
  • Seatbeltnoob - doesn't matter how fancy the halogens are, they're all pretty poor really. My opinion of course but I've spent enough trying out many of the fancy Nancy bulbs. In the end I settle for night breakers as a balance of light output and cost but they're still not great.

Complete waste of time and money if they are retro fitted - keep it original. They flicker after a couple of weeks.
