EE upgrade home broadband confusion

Hi All

I entered into a 18 month contract with ee 3 months. Last week I upgraded from 150mbps to 900mbps.

The said I will need to enter into a new 18 month contract.
So far I haven’t been able to get even 100Mbps with is, frustrating.

Apparently if I want to quite they will down grade me back to my old contract? Is this correct? I would have thought that if you upgrade and enter new a new contract with an additional 3 months term then I should get my right to cancel especially because of lack of service?

I am currently awaking a new router and engineer for Friday.

Please note this is home broadband not mobile.
