Tedber do you work for Eurotunnel if. so maybe you can help!
Legally they have sold a ticket that one is unable to use and nothing is stated in T & C about the use of the trips when the use of the ticket has been legally suspended.
It appears to be and I am very happy for mirrorcarp 2 that his ticket has been extended. They now appear to have a cut off date that a FT ticket should have been bought by Aug. 31st 2020 and then they will extend these tickets to Dec 31st 2021. I bought my ticket 3 days later than Aug 31st and have been told I will get no extension. This cannot be legally correct although we still cannot travel to France and use the ticket obviously even if the ticket has been extended, although this is a step in the right direction. But why are all FT ticket holders not being offered the same conditions.
Eurotunnel are making this so difficult for everyone and are not giving themselves a good name.
Airlines have been very open and want customers to travel with them after lockdown and have extended paid for tickets by a year. But not Eurotunnel.Why.
If anyone has had success with Eurotunnel and Frequent Traveller tickets with writing to Customer services  and are in the same position as me, buying a  F T ticket after Aug. 31st then please let us know. As Ive only had negativity on writing to Customer Services and that they will not extend the ticket. So Ive paid for something that legally I cannot use. Can Martin Lewis look into this ?

Why would Martin look into it, he doesn't even frequent the forums, he doesn't own it anymore, he sold the name.

Have you tried tweeting them ?
You tried complaining to the owner of Eurotunnel ?

Quite apart from anything else, Martin Lewis's carefully-cultivated consumer champion image is all about lending his name to causes affecting large groups of people, in maybe 6-8 digit territory.  The notion that he'd get involved in the minuscule niche of people who chose to buy multi-trip Eurotunnel tickets during a pandemic seems somewhat unlikely....
  • Thanks. I was actually meaning has anybody written and complained to Martin Lewis about Eurotunnel and their attitude towards longstanding customers.
I complained about a month ago to the CMA and I believe they have had a lot of complaints about Eurotunnel but CMA never reply to the complaint, so one never knows what has happened.
I have already tried contacting Laurent Fourtune COO at Getlink (who are actually the Group owners of  Eurotunnel ). I might try Linkedin and Deborah Merrens the new COO. But it's a lot of work to receive something that one has bought and they have not legally delivered on, nor are willing to make a compromise.

Have you written to martin Lewis?
  • @stoffcat.  Were you able to use your ticket at all from August 20 even if it wasn’t convenient for you?   When did France go into lockdown?   If you were prevented from travelling  immediately after you booked your FT ticket and are still unable to travel up to August this year I think they may consider an extension then.   I don’t think they will agree now as nobody knows when it will all resume.

Maybe wait to see what happens nearer time?   Then contact again stating you have been unable to use the ticket even once.

Just wondering what your thoughts were when you paid for frequent travel in the midst of the pandemic.  Did you just hope it was all over?   How many trips did you envisage making?  I am not sure just how many people will be in same situation to confer with. Good luck anyway.
