Going via solicitors might be a bit slow and painful. Going via the EA (or contacting the buyers directly) might be better.
It might be ideal to have some kind of (electronic) paper trail - even if it's just an email from you saying "Would you like us to leave a, b and c?", and the buyers replying "yes please".
It reduces the risk of misunderstandings, and reduces the risk of the buyers saying that you left 'rubbish' behind which they had to pay to get rid of (and wanting you to pay their costs).

I would ensure that you ask your buyers, please don't make assumptions.
Our vendor left loads of stuff (including a massive fridge and contents, wardrobes, lamps, etc) that weren't mentioned on the forms. We got the keys to a virtually furnished house, which we didn't want. When our solicitor queried it, the response was that he thought we'd find them useful. Umm, no. Total pain in the neck and the vendor ended up paying for the removal of said unwanted items, thanks to our tenacious solicitor.
Luckily we weren't moving in immediately upon completion otherwise our front garden would have been reminiscent of Steptoe's yard.0
